A bunch of kids from my school went to the track a few weeks ago. One of these kids brought his Civic that he is so proud of. It has the standard things, huge exhaust, intake, body kit, wing, white rims etc... Anyway, he ran an 18 second quarter mile! Yeah, 18! I was laughing so hard. And he didn't miss a shift or anything. He must not have had the wing set correctly, he probably wasn't getting enough downforce to put all 100 hp to the wheels. Anyone else have any funny stories like that, kids who try to race everyone even though their car is slower than stock? Just thought I would share.

He would need the wing on his front bumper if he wanted to get traction from it ;)

I once met a kid who explained that he ran a 16.2 with a 'full interior'.

Sorry, maybe when your down to low 13's and you want that 12 second run, I can see you stripping your interior just to have the pride of a 12 second ET slip...but uh..when  your running 16.2, you should spend your time modifying the engine rather than stripping out your interior heh.

I think it's a 97 or 98. I don't know much about the levels of Civics, I've never aspired to owning one, but apparently he painted his black plastic molding red to match the rest of the car so that people would think he had an "EX" I think it would be great to move his wing to the front one night while he's sleeping thinking about Three Fast Three Furious coming out next year. Like the car will ever hit speeds fast enough for the wing to do much... I still laugh every time I hear him accelerate. Oh yeah, it also has a "Greddy" plaque on the back and half half a dozen huge guages to moniter all the important things going on.

Does he have an alarm clock to wake him up when the run is over?

It's hard to sleep when all four gerbils are running with that 6 inch diameter fart cannon exhaust tip.

The civics are set up as so:

DX:  Bare bones, base, usually have no radio, no a/c, and manual windows/locks, powered by a 1.5 I4 w/about 90hp.

LX:  Next level up, middle pkg., usually has AM FM Cass., A/C, and manual window/locks, and 1.6 or 1.8 I4 w/about 115-127 hp

EX:  Top of the line, CD player, opt. moonroof, A/C, power everything, and 1.8 I4 w/about 127hp

But the thing about Honda's are that your weedeater probably has more torque.  Even the late 90's SI Civic's have 160 hp but only 111 tq.

hmm, the dx civics of the late '90's hat the 1.5l 4 bangers making 106hp actually.  Still no power for much of a race, but great platforms for engine swaps.  Sleepers are fun
