I've listed my Saleen on the mustang trader. I hate paying ins premiums for a car I don't drive.  My new job is 1.5 miles and driving the stang just doesn't make sense anymore.  My other car is a Cobra and is much cooler, so I'll save that car for weekends.

I will put it in the mustang trader for $7995 OBO.  I know the market shows the car is worth about $10,000 but I just want the space in the garage for the new motorcycles.  I'm sure I'll take any real offers.  Please send this to anyone you know looking for a good track car or commuter because it is a shame for it to sit in my yard and rust.

It is thouroughly worked over out and many details are on my mechanics web page www.bloodenterprises.com/adamsaleen

  • Rebuilt the distributor

  • Rebuild and matched all fuel injectors

  • Replaced steering column components

  • Installed a Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator

  • Replaced the clutch

  • Installed adjustable clutch quadrant and cable

  • Ported Heads , added roller rocker arms and 3 angle valve-job

  • Larger intake and throttle body

  • Changed the gear ratio to 3.27 from 3.08 (nice and conservative)

  • Retrofit the car for Mass Air Metering and a  Computer

  • Installed extra long sub-frame connectors (Maximum Motorsports)

  • Installed jacking rails (Kenny Brown)

  • Replaced the cracked dash pad

  • Installed a D&D Blueprinted Transmission with pro 5.0 shifter

  • Replaced the heater core.

  • Installed Lakewood  boxed upper and lower control arms

  • Installed Mac Prochamber H-pipe and cat back exhaust system.

  • Sent all 4 wheels out for straightening at Wheelmasters and 4 new tires

  • Installed new brakes on front and back.

  • new carpeting in front and back. (oem parts, remember conservative)

  • Aluminum motorsports driveshaft and u-joints.

  • installed bad ass Viper alarm system that rolls up windows when arming. Don't want anyone stealing my project.

  • Installed new front and rear Saleen bumper-valences.  Repainted too!

  • New Saleen headlight covers (originals had turned yellow and cracked)

  • New blinker assembly in steering column (don't you hate it when the blinkers won't cancel)

  • New belts, hoses, filters, plugs, wires, O-2 sensors etc.

  • front seats (saved originals of course)

  • Replaced Saleen badges and stripes where missing.

  • fixed all chips in the windshield

  • 5 Point RCI harness for driver and passenger.

Nope! Saleen did not do any brake changes in 1986.  Only suspension, body, and interior modifications.  Also, those are all original Saleen wheels too.  I wish they did have 5 bolts back then, so I could use my extra set of '96 cobra wheels and tires.

Actually the '86 were the first of the EFI cars.  1984 and 1985 Saleens were carbureted.  Production numbers were quite low in the mid '80s say about 200-300 cars each year I think.  1986 less than 198 were made, also that was the first year Saleen had an SCCA win with a Saleen mustang (showroom stock).

(yes, mdvaldosta, even as old as 1984.  These were the cars that started it all.   see http://www.saleen.com/corporate/steveBio.htm)      :)

EFI systems in 1986 were not nearly as impressive as the EEC-5 OBD-2 systems around now, but being a self proclaimed EFI expert.... I have improved this one considerably)
