I have just purchased a 2004 cobra and am very new to this game. Im looking to Build the 4.6L to 5.0 but i have read in forums that there is no point. I dont want to go to any shop and get ripped off. So please help me out. Pros & Cons, Where to get the job done, and so on...

Why would you bore the motor out? What are you looking to do with it? The 2003/2004 Cobra can already handle a good amount of boost as it sits now... are you looking to run more then 25psi? What is your power/time goal?
i would recommend doing a 5.1L stroker..... the extra displacement does help quite a bit..... also, get ur heads ported and get a set of cams, and u will be seeing well over 800rwhp with a twin screw and even more with a turbo set up....

does he really need over 800rwhp?? lol
Now if thats what he wants that's another thing, but something tells me he isn't aware of how well these cars make power since he's "new to the game". Why spend the money on a stroker if you can get your actual goal with 1/4 the money spent... I think once he realizes he can hit 650+rwhp with just a blower swap, some fuel and suspension he'll be good.. lol
its going to be expensive anywhere u do it, but xxkazp3rxx makes a good point.... do u really want over 650 rwhp?????? because it would be completely a waste of money, unless ur goal is 800 rwhp, which will make it uncomfortable to drive on the streets.......... u can get a very good 650rwhp on the stock block, and still be reliable......... whats ur performance goals, and where are u located??
Im Looking for 650+rwhp for the mean while on pump. Then later down the road get ready for some real boost. But i was thinking i should start building and preping the motor beforehand. Is this a good idea? why or why not? after the bottomend is done i was thinking fr500 heads from fordracing. If you have any information on the heads please let me know.
i would keep it a 4.6L then, until ur ready to take the next step. ur stock bottom end can handle a lot of sh!t. once u do a stroker, u'll notice ur gas mileage is rediculously low, and its really not necessary unless u want way over 650 rwhp, which u cannot make that decision, until u have felt what a real 650 hp is...
I am looking at going the stroker route as well and then adding a big turbo on it and going for close to 1000 rwhp or so. one of the local guys here just made 999.7 on a stock block @ 33 psi h went 8.95@154 last friday. his car is street legal and he drives it on the road with no problems. since my motor is smoked right now an i am building the whole thing thats the route i am going.

yeah if your looking for 650+rwhp.. I wouldn't even bother with the stroker kit.. you can save money just by putting the 2.8KB or a 3.4Whipple on it.. then just built the bottom end. You dont need to go that extreme with these cars...
i wouldnt push over 600 rwhp on a stock cobra motor...
however id like to see a twin screw make 800 rearwheel on 93, shoot id like to see it make 700 on 93 the only way to make that much power is spraying on it - which is not a bad option.. but your going to need a centri or a turbo to make more than 650 rwhp all blower on 93 ... the highest ive actually seen on a 3L whipple was 700 rwhp, with a 50 shot

There are Terminators regularly making over 600... over 700 on the stock motor. 800 is really pushing it, for longevity... but 600-700 is pretty easy to do on stock motors... the motor is VERY strong, it's just the heads that really suck.. as long as you have a good tune and all the proper cooling mods then you're fine.
I have seen a 2.8KB, Turbo Cobras, 2.6KB with and without juice, 2.3 Whipple + juice, and a 3.4Whipple over 650-700rwhp.. as long as you keep it tuned right you'll be fine with that...

just run meth injection, then you can run 93 all day over 700 hp

dan made over 750 rwhp with a stock bottom end, ported heads and cams, and a 2.2 kb at 20 psi.... No nitrous- pump gas...

Your being risky running like that. Why take the risk? Throw some Torco in there for good measure. I personally wouldn't run anything over 650 on just pump gas. It only takes one tank of "not quite" 93 in there and boom, your out 6 grand to build another one.
