Default Best bang for the buck?

I'm looking for the best bang for the buck power upgrade. At first I was looking at steeda pulleys but now that I saw gears being near the same price I might go with 4.10s.I'm not a big mod person now, I would be if cash and being in school wasn't a factor. After doing a little research I guess you lose a little bit of gas mileage? Also I have actually not seen gains on gears. I've read it's hard to tell the difference on dyno because the wheel spins to fast or somethin. But what is the hp/torque gain on 4.10 gears? I see there is a lot of bouncing around from 3.73s and 4.10s? Should I just get 3.90s since they're in the middle. I'm not into racing or are hard on the car just want some more power. Should I just get pulleys since gears will be pricey on the install? Can I have some help?

nooo, it does not give u morepower, but it keeps ur car in the powerband while racing...... everytime u shift, when racing, ur in a nice high rpm...... u'll see very decent gains in ur 1/4 mile times... a lot more than pulleys would get u

Oh wellthen it ain't for me. I don't race or go to the track I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck upgrade in power. Don't need to look into intake, I'm fine with the air silencer taken off w/K&N for now. I'm lookin into exhaust kind of but I need cats for PA inspection and it has to be no more than $400 and sound good so that's out.

i thnk ur confused. ppl want power to go faster..... ur gonna go faster with the gears, than u r with the pulleys. pulleys are a waste of money IMO.

not to confuse the original poster.... redfire chose pulleys, because he has a supercharger, so getting a smaller charger pulley, and a larger crank pully, increased his boost, hence increased his power.

if u get an underdrive pully system on ur NA car, u will see very minimal gains

You just said it does not give me more power, but that's what I'm looking for. Not a launch for a 1/4 or racing. Just interested in getting more pep. Alright then if pulleys are minor what is the real best bang for the buck upgrade then?
