Default 17x9's on 245/17/45's????HELP......

Will 17x9" rims fit on my 245/17/45 tires? Sorry I am not much of a tire man so any help would be great.

didn't you post this in the 4.6 general section?
245/45/17 will fit. btw you have 45 and 17 backward.
my friends have 245/45/18 on his 18x9 and the rims kinda stick out a little.
so your 17 inch rims may have the same problem.
i would go with 1 size up.
255/45/17 to protect the rims.

Absolutely.

A255-width tire would provide a little more protection for the wheel, but I'm not sure how much help another 0.2" section width per sidewould be, particularly if the specific tires have a built-in rim protection strip.

275/40/17 is about ideal for a 9 inch rim. I have 245's on my 9 inchers and its a bit too skinny.

Depends on what you're going for. 9" is the "better ride" end of the range for 275's, and isn't quite wide enough to take full performance advantage of that much tire. 11" is for the hardcore cornering addicts.

Opinions on appearance depend at least partly on whether your personal experience is based on the way the wheel/tire packages selected by the mfrs look or on the way a road race /open tracking / autocross setup looks.
