i think that there is a rev limiter on just 5th gear. In my 94 gt i can do 125 in 4th gear, but can only do 120 in 5th. I cant get it to rev any higher than 3000 in 5th. So im guessing that it is a limiter on it.

i hate to say, but i see everyone ask: "Hey, if you want to go fast, why didnt you get a gt?"
FOR ME it was two things. I only had the money for a v6. At the time, i wanted a newer model because i didnt know a lot about how well mustangs held up after like 40/50k, and my dad didnt want me getting one with that many miles.
2: Insurance- insurance in NJ sucks for guys, its so expensive it sucks, and if i got a gt, i would of had to pick up 4 jobs instead of 2. Now, I dont pay for insurance, my parents do, but if i get a ticket or something, the extra is on me, so Im really careful about that.
I wish i had a GT or a cobra, but hey, you play the cards your dealt. If i could go back in time, i would have saved a bit more and gotten a Gt or just gotten a older GT or cobra, but at the time i was about to get my license and i just wanted a car! And for me, a 2002 mustang? Come on, what a sight for a 16 year old kid!

EDIT: plus, only a handful of hot chicks that are 17 and 18 actually would say: " Only a v6? Eww, get the hell away from me! And are those 18 inch chrome mach ones? Oh my GOD! They are so ugly!" Thats never happened to me..i find it that girls love mustangs...they all want to sit in it and drive it, but..heh, theres a price to pay....no, seriously, i charge .50$

A lot of cars can beat you out when you max out, thats not what a race is, race from a dig up to a reasonable speed, thats a race, not a max out contest. The reason why I raced him was pride, I was not going to let that ricer boy mess with me. Sure I do need to grow up. Also the reason I got a V6 was that it was the only 99 stang I could afford (I got it for 3000 cash). I may not be ready for a GT but I am going to do my best with my car.
i have a 94 vert and mine tops out at 112 i was on alligator alleydown in miami and cruised at 112 for a few minutes exhilarating witht eh top down but i hit 112 and it dropped my revs
My 2000 will cut out one of three ways... 1) Fuel cutoff no matter what gear I'm in, if I hit around 6250 RPM I can feel the engine cut out. Let me tell you, scared the **** outta me the first time it happened. Thought I blew the motor. 2) 5th gear floored (around 3500 RPM) doing 117 3) 4th gear doing 120 close to redline.
The last two there are not as dramatic in how the engine cuts out it's more like a bad miss... But yes, they do have rev and speed limiters as part of the ECU programming, if you get a chip, you can delete these electronic limiters...Not sure if I would delete the RPM limiter unless you have a moded engine to handle the higher RPMs.

devin lol i thought i explained this to you.
the 96-98 GT's are governed at 136 mph.
so why does my car stop at 120 mph you ask? same reason my did.
3.73 gear's!! think about it..... at 120 mph in 5th gear turning about 4K, it kicks in because that's where you'd be at 136 with stock gears. a dyno tune/chip will fix this.
