2007 Ford SHELBY Cobra!!!!

Ive been gone for some time so im not sure if this info has made it here.

Ford is most definetly dumping SVT and Carrol Shelby will be producing Fords new Cobra. It will be a 550 hp Supercharger 5.4L V8 with Cobra R side exiting exhaust and a LIVE axle in the rear thats saving Ford $50 Million dollars rather than using the IRS setup from the past two Cobras. Its specifically built to run with the Z06 and suppose to have a 0-60 mph time under 4.0 seconds. They are hoping the car, weighing in at 3500 lbs, will break 11's in the quarter mile. Thats what they said... HOPING! If they want to compete with the new Z06 they better have it somewhere in the 10's!

Anyhoo.. just thought I would share. Im too lazy to look for the article online. If someone finds it then feel free to post it up.

Well the Zo6 has an msrp of 62,500... throw in some dealer markup and your probably over 70k. I'm sure the shelby will be some where around that range.

Too bad about SVT though! This means that Saleen/Roush are pretty much the only ticket in a reasonable range for a wicked Stang now.

Ya but a 05 S281 starts at 38k which gives you great styling/handling/braking, and the S281 SC gives you all that and a blower for a starting price of 44k.


The Extreme isn't even for sale yet. I'm sure you could probably go to an authorized dealer and put money down on one but you would still be waiting a while.

Well, that would fuxor me outta one. I've always had a creed: never spend more on a car than you did for your first house - $57K.

All the E cars for 05 are accounted for. Unless you pay a huge premium, then an average Joe will have to wait 'til 06 for one. I am lucky as hell I got moving on the 05 E car as early as I did. I placed an order in September before Saleen announced that there would be an E car for 05, but the inside info I got from Saleen helped. I am lucky as hell to be getting the first S281E avalible to the public.

i really doubt they will charge that much for the car. ford wants to be able to say they have a car that can run with cars that cost much more. like he 03 cobra ''bargain'' at 35 k. the only way they charge 62-70 k is if its an ''r'' model which it is not.

I was thinking that type of price range would not be consistent with the pony's past - affordable horsepower. I can't imagine that I would be willing to pay more than $45K for one. Maybe even $40K. Thing is, you KNOW those are going to be priced at a premuim! Good luck on MSRP on one of those babies.

Damn u beat me to it... yeah they are dumping it, but hey you cant argue with carroll shelby.... Its supposed to run high 11's and have a 0-60 time is 4.0 seconds, rated at around 500 hp I believe.... [sm=badbadbad.gif]

They wont need to run 10's to compete w/ the Z06...it is turning about 500 horsepower so they are tight there with it anyways, the Z06 is just maybe a few lbs. lighter but the shelby and Z06 are right there w/ each other. The only thing about it is that Mustangs arent exactly top end cars, or at lest they havnt been noted for it in the car world. And the Z06 is expected to be around 200mph. sotck so the shelby is going to need to haul some serious @$$ top end to compete on the highways. But the shelby will be right there with it on the 1/4 mile.[:D]

I think they can charge that much for the car. Look at the stock 05 mark ups on the GT. It seems to be a sellers market with the new styling change. Plus, all the Vette site I followed were calling the 06 Z06 $$75-83K. Right up there with the Viper. An 2004 Z06 stickered for $53500.00 I almost bought one in December. That was pretty muck an 04 Vette with the special drivetarin. The 06 Z06, looks a lot like the new C5 vette, but way more money to build. I doubt when they hit the salesfloor, you can touch them for under $70K.

I bought my 05 GT 5spd, when I heard a SVT was at least two years out. I am enjoying it a lot, but plan to move to Saleen, or Sheby, etc. by next summer. Got to raise some more down payment. Anybody want to buy a "slightly used 94 Harley, money pit" ??lol

I just hope someone pushes an 06/07 Mustang out the door, with over 450 hp, for under 55K. Thats the ticket for me.

Plus, with the bargin priced 300hp, 05 GT (I paid $24750 on X-Plan last week). Why not have an over the top option car. Its a whole different market.

I looked at the Saleen, and decided to have my GT custom built. I saved 5k$ off the Saleen E model, and I have a LOT more power. I don't have the flashy look of the Saleen, but I have "stealth".... my friends say I'm stoned if I think I have "stealth", since you can hear the damned thing from a block away. Maybe that's "sour grapes", but I like it. Since its my money, and I drive it, it should be the way I like it:

words can not describe my anger right now. were 98LS1 at, he should b telling you of how bad this car will be, and everyone should be making fun of you....i posted this exact same thing(Rock the pony read it, she replied) in another forum and all got was "your stupid and 19, what do you know" responds and how somebodies car could beat mine, all beacuse i made a joke. afterwards......by the way 98ls1, your VERY close to owing someone an ass kissing. think im making this up? check it out

Whatever Ford is going to do is supposed to debut in the New York auto show in March. The rumors are many but in about a month we will see the new SVTShelbyCobraGT500KRGT350fastStang or whatever the name is going to be.

Because I don't see this Shelby Cobra thing lasting more than a couple years...
Yeah, he's made some sick cars in the past. But it really doesnt seem like it'd be a long term thing as was SVT.
Oh well I guess...
