Default head job

ok this may sound kinda odd. my auto teacher asked us to find out and put into story form what a head job is. due tomorrow and it's one heck of a lot of points. could someone please tell me. like what does a head job entail?

im not sure what he is asking....replacing the heads? porting and polishing the heads? does he mean valve job? ive never heard the term head job so im at a loss.....if you find out what he is talking about we can prolly help out!

he talks about the symtoms being blue smoke, decreased gas milage, and it uses 3 quarts of oil between changes. he said something about valves and a machine shop. thank you for your help

It sounds like the valve guides were worn excessively and oil was leaking through them into the combustian chamber. I've never machined valve guides but I went over it a while ago. I think you have to machine the guide (bore it) then press in a sleeve. I can get a service manual and look it up tomorrow if you want. Let me know by early morning cause I got work and school tomorrow.
