400 RWHP on 4 PSI? Saleen advertises 435 hp on 5 psi at the CRANK
Hee, hee. Advertise is the key word there. The basic saleen kit is 400 crank HP.

other strange sounds that I read a lot about on this forum from other blowers.
I thought the saleen sounded like a rock polisher at idle
Moosestang buddy! Rock Polisher? Come on now I take that personal and I am sure the other Saleen guys will too. If I ever make it to Florida or you to NorCal made we can run and see who is getting their rocks polished!

I'm just repeating what a saleen owner said. I've never seen or heard a saleen in person. I will happily run you though, i've got mad skills.

That would be fun. Spring time next year?? I don't have any vacation time left, but if you can't wait my buddy lives in jacksonville, I am sure he will be very happy to take my place.
and moose could find someone to take his place, and the two replacements can battle it out

I am going to buy a supercharger right away since our CDN is the same as USD. Debate is between Whipple, and Saleen (various kits)
I have FRPP stingers, and the O/R H pipe is going to be installed. Does the Whipple or Saleen Powerflash work with O/R H pipes? Which kit is easier install? I hear the Saleen is very simple (no pumps.....)
Now, regarding Saleens, what size pully does the stock Saleen 400hp kit use? What pulley does the 475 kit use (Saleen syas about 6.5 PSI) Brenspeed says 3.6 pulley for 6.5psi, but Saleen says 3.87 pulley for that psi....which is it? I know a Brenspeed tune will work with my O/R H pipes........since they'll just email a tune for my Xcal 2.
Thanks guys. I was going to wait till spring, but I might boost this fall!! Going to need a winter beater for sure then...haha. Or a really smooth throttle foot and good winter tires.(yes I am crazy.....but I know it can be done. Its all in the throttle control)

Bahahaha. That was funny.

You'll need a custom tune for either. Changing the fuel pump is rather easy now that i've done it. I wouldn't let that scare you away. You'll need the dual pumps eventually anyway. The wiring harness for the dual pumps is plug and play, stupid easy to hook up.

I don't know if saleen is different, but my boost gauge shows 8psi with a 3.6 pulley. That's what whipple claims it makes as well.

You won't spin your tires unless you want to. I drive around all day without making any boost. Unless you stab the throttle the bypass valve won't close, even up to redline.

Well, if a 3.6 pulley is 8 psi, Brenspeed has something wrong on their website............both compressors are 2.3L, so the pulley size corresponds to both superchargers.
Isnt Whipple's "tune" more than just an SCT reflash? I mean, on their website they blab about how advanced it is. I'd hate to have to get just an SCT reflash to make up for my O/R H pipes.
Brenspeed has 3.6 pulley = 6.5 PSI 3.4 Pulley = 8 PSI 3.0 Pulley = 10 PSI. That doesnt seem right according to Whipple's sizes, or Saleens.

Well, from Whipple they give you a flash tool after you fill out a form and send it to them. I just emailed asking if they work with O/R H pipes, since as I said, they promote their advanced tuning so much. I wonder if all I'd need is MIL Eliminators?? Boosted cars are generally not effected as much by changes in exhaust, since intake flow is directly related to boost levels, vs vacuum (and the associated problems with exhaust scavenging) where exhaust flow has a large impact on intake/charge volumes.
Or at least this is how my brain sees it......I could be way off base.
So I can sell my Intake and Tuner then? haha I just bought it... Or should I keep the tuner for a Dyno Tune?
You should keep the tuner if you want a dyno tune. When you receive the whipple, you go to fordracing.com and fill out an online form. They then send you a flash device to reprogram the pcm. took only 2 days to get mine.

Just poking a little fun at the whipple guys! Whipple makes a great SC, and personally I love the polished one and it looks like a tradition blower, but the Saleen is more efficent that's how the Saleen guys on this forum can make 425+rwhp at 6.5psi. But don't worry about what I say or anyone else get what makes YOU happy. No matter what you go with trust me it will be fun! Nothing like laying down a 60ft patch of rubber in 2nd gear!
Please explain to us all how the Saleen is more efficient then the Whipple. I'm curious. Thanks, Jared

I'd be glad to assist you with anything you need pertaining the purchase of the Whipple. We are indeed the largest Whipple distributor in the US. No other dealer has sold as many 05+ GT kits as us nor offers the support we do.. When you see others speaking of dealers selling the kits for less it's because they don't back up the purchase with the support. I could dish these kits out all day long for a $100 over cost but not offer any type of support. That's all good for someone who just wants to save a few $$ but for most when making a $5000-6000 purchase they want to feel a little better about their purchase. So with us you are guaranteed to get the highest level of support for your Whipple purchase. Best of all is that we're direct dealers of theirs. If you have any issues you contact us and about 99% of the time we can walk you through the issue over the phone. If we can't we'll call Whipple direct and get the answers you need quick. We've got an amazing relationship with them and are always willing to help us assist our customers in a timely manor.
As far as a tune for the Whipple we offer an awesome package which includes a High Output Kit, Xcal 2 or Livewire and Tunes and Tuning Support from Justin@VMP Tuning. Justin has been custom tuning all of our Whipple kits and has gotten amazing results. We've got several customers running over 500rwhp on stock blocks and love their tunes. If you're not familiar with Justin he's one of SCT's largest dealers and one of the most respected tuners in the mustang community. When we provide a VMP Whipple tune you are also given a datalog config file to datalog the vehicle. Then you can email that information to Justin for him to dial the car in so it's perfect. Whats great about that is that its as close to a dyno tune as possible.
With that said please feel free to give us a call if you have any questions. We're here to earn your business and will do our best to make sure your 100% satisfied. Thanks, Jared
+1 on paying a for the customer service and Support!
+1 on VMP!
The standard Saleen s/c kit is 4-4.5 psi with a 4" pulley. The upgrade...475hp kit is 5.5-6psi with a 3.87" pulley. Yes, power ratings are at the crank.
