I am trying to decide whether I want to make the effort to put in three point seat belts and what it entails to do so. So if you have done it or have some pics that would be cool. Thanks
i dont have 3 point seat belts but i have the original lap and shoulder harness belts and there safer then just lap belts but not easy to move around in
Sorry no pics yet, I just installed em in my 68 coupe. It was easier for me because the mounts were already there. As far as I know the 3 point belts were not available in 66, but I could be wrong. So you will need to add a mount point up top to get it done.
It took about a month to get them but they are top quality. I am very pleased. I'll get some pics if you want them. Just let me know if it would be helpful and I will get some pics for you.

I did mine just like James did, following his writeup and getting the belts from the same source (BTW, the blue matches perfectly with the '65 medium blue interior that I have). If I were to do it on a coupe, I'd consider putting the upper mount on the upper portion of the door jamb unless you are really tall. The fastback roof slopes down so the upper mount would be a bit lower than it would be on a coupe.
previous owner installed them on my coupe. I dont know about you guys, but my seatbelts rubs up against my/passengers neck and use to annoy the hell out of me but i got so use to it, i dont even notice anymore. But still bugs my passengers
BUMP to the top... i k now this is an old post, but im right in the middle of trying to install mine and cannot figure out where or how to mount the retractor in my 1968 Coupe
Look at my webpage listed above. Mine is in the rear passenger floor, but others have actually cut their rear side panels and mounted behind. Looks sharp.
One other thought. If I were to do it again, I would buy the ones with the 8" or so drop on the upper attach point. This will get the belt down off your neck and more on your shoulder.

+100 on the drop sash. Install is exactly the same, but no neck or shoulder slipping issues. I have had these for a while but someone on this forum installed them recently. I just cant remember where he got them in the US.
A 2007 study found on average Australians walk 900 miles a year. We drink 26 gallons of beer. That means, on average, Australians get about 34 miles per gallon. Not bad hey!
Ditto on the Drop Sash as Aussie66 says and again on JamesW's links and website. Below is a photo and link to Wesco Performance and a great set of belts. I've ordered and received mine and can say they are top quality. Haven't installed yet as car is still stripped down. I was gonna go nab a set from the junk yard but decided to get these instead and very glad I did. Check out about 1/2 way down the page for these... 3 Point Retractable Seat Belts with Long Sash Guide

i got mine from http://retrobeltusa.com/ . I really like the look and how they use the old style buckle. They are top quality but they do cost a bit more. They are easy to install since the retractor can be mounted in any position. I was lucky though because i have a 69 and the mount was already installed in the roof.

If someone knows the source for these, post up. I've found that the edge of my belt slightly rubs on the neck to the point of being slightly annoying, though not terrible. I'd love to change them out for some of these in the picture.
The front retractors are bolted on the floor by the back of the front seat and the upper is bolted on the very front part of the rear trim panel...the down side was I had to drill through a part of the door jam.

thanks for the tip on the drop sash... I just put 3 point belts into my 67 fastback, same setup as Timelockmind, and i cant stop pulling at the belt on my neck as i drive.
