Ok, I've got a question about the three points... the usual parts places have a 3 point conversion kit, but they say you have to drill new holes. Why couldn't I just use the same mounting spots as my current lap belt/shoulder harness setup? Seems like it would work even better with one of the drops on it for the bit of extra distance there.

There would be no problem reusing the 3 points in our 69's, just seems like less work to me, just unbolt, remove, place new one, bolt and tada. I don't see why we'd have to re-drill.
Do you all think that 8" drop would work right with high back seats like the mach 1's? I think the drop may interfere with the seat but I can't be sure.

I dont think so.
from memory your seats are quite high backed but they taper to a headrest shape at the top dont they?
the pic of my wife shows where it sits and its well wide of the side of the seat so I think it would work fine. you can always put a cable tie around your existing 3 point about 8" from the top to simulate it.

A 2007 study found on average Australians walk 900 miles a year. We drink 26 gallons of beer. That means, on average, Australians get about 34 miles per gallon. Not bad hey!
Highback seats I don't know about, I've got buckets with headrests. Unfortunately I don't care for the latches on those kits... I'm quite happy with the stock style, and of course nobody makes repros of them and we don't have anywhere around here that really does belts so have them switched over.
The front retractors are bolted on the floor by the back of the front seat and the upper is bolted on the very front part of the rear trim panel...the down side was I had to drill through a part of the door jam.
please post pics... thanks
I have the same setup. here are some pics: the first is of the swivel on the rear interior quarter, the second of the retractor on the floor (poorly positioned thanks to a crappy shop that installed them, you could get them a little more out of the way), and the third of the plate you have to rivet to the door jamb.
the swivel i mounted higher into the factory hole in the headliner.
im just having trouble seeing where to mount the retractor, and the car is at the shop so i only get to see it on weekends. but your pic will help with planning.
