.......We all know about changing oil every 3000 miles or every 3 months, which ever come first, in order to keep the engine running at its best.
My '96 GT seats in the garage most of the time. I drive it once or twice a week and it takes me almost 6 month to get to 3000 miles.
Now my "dumb" question: should I change the oil anyway at 3 months or wait until six months when it reaches 3K miles?.. any suggestions?

I would change it at least every 5,000 miles or about 5 months. Even if you do not drive your stang that ofeten, the oil will still get sludgy (for lack of a better word).  I have a 1999 PU with only 40,000 miles and I have changed the oil, religiously at 5,000 miles. No problems.

...Thanks for the advice!!! ..5,000 miles or about 5 months sounds good to me. This was the only reply I received, nobody else responded or gave me an answer (or advice) to my "dumb" question. I guess everybody else just drive their cars all the time not just twice a week ...

No such a thing as a dumb question. You will heard lots of opinion on this one, I was surprise that no one jumped in. The thing is, how you drive your vehicle dictates how often you should change your oil, not to mention which oil to use. I am an ignorant in the oil department, but you could use the search engine above to find out what others have discussed on this issue. Good luck.

I use Mobil 1 pure synthetic. I change my oil every 3k miles. Mine also stays in the garage most of the time as it is not a daily driver. Yes, it takes me a long time to get 3k miles, but changing every 3k should keep it in good shape.

haha my friend said something hilarious the other day. he said, "dude im using synthetic oil so i dont have to change my oil for like a year now." LOL hes got like a 97 geo prism. he thought that you only have to change your oil if your not using synthetic. i had to help him change his timing belt which was a pain. him and his dad know nothing about cars and when they took the belt of, they accidently turned the timing gear without turning the crank simultaniously. then they put it back together and found it was all screwed up. LOL
