Hi DriWashSolutions.

Welcome to MustangForums Detailing section.

Well, thanks - I was beginning to feel like I was being run out of town...

I too am basically a weekend warrior as well - I don't do detailing for others, just for my own vehicles.  I just happen to sell detailing supplies!

You're welcome!  Since I'm a small one man operation, it was actually quite an outlay and a risk, but keep reading...

Absolutely.

As I mentioned, I'm a distributor of DRI WASH 'n GUARD(R), not the manufacturer.  It's manufactured by DWG International(tm), and the product has been around for about 15 years.  I've been using the product for the past twelve years, and have been a distributor since 2003.

I started using the product back in '95 on my '95 Harley-Davidson 883 Sportser.  The bike was black, and was getting feather scratches around the gas cap from unscrewing the cap with riding gloves on.  I tried many different products on the tank to try and remove the feather scratches.  Finally, I broke out a 1oz sample bottle that I got from a distributor at a motorcycle swap meet.  I gave it a try on the tank, and from that point forward, I was hooked on the product.  I bought a 32oz bottle that lasted me for years.  When I ran out, I was also thinking about opening an internet business to try and sell and market something, but I didn't know what to sell.  Suddenly it hit me - become a distributor of DRI WASH 'n GUARD(R) - there's my product!  And since I used the product, and believed in it's performance, it was a natural fit and I started DriWashSolutions.com.

Now, a bit about me.  I've been a car guy since I can remember, and partial to Ford since my father was a Ford fan as well.  I bought my first Mustang in 1978 at the age of 15- it was a 1966 289 Coupe.   I rebuilt the engine and did some bodywork and painted it myself.  Once I turned 16 and was finally able to drive it, it was my pride and joy.  One day on my way home from school, I was in an accident and the '66 was totaled.  I wasn't hurt, but the car was.  They gave me $1000 for it, at which point I purchased the car I still have today, a 1965 Fastback - my high school sweetheart.  The '65 went through a ground up resto-mod in 2004.  You can check out some pictures at www.johnskurka.com.

I also just recently purchased a '06 V6 Mustang with a Pony Package - it's a fun car to drive.  I've not done any mods to it, but they'll come - I'm just in the process of building a new garge to house both of the ponys in during the winters here in Upstate NY.

Now, about DRI WASH 'n GUARD(R).  The flagship product is the Waterless Car Wash and Protective Glaze.  This is the "Classic" product that's been around for 15+ years.  With this product, you clean, polish, seal and UV protect in one step.  You simply spray the product onto the surface, wipe it in with a terry towel, the product will haze over quickly, then take a microfiber towel and buff it to a shine.  That's it.  You can do you whole car in about 10-15 minutes.

The latest product is the Ultra-Ion(tm) Waterless Car Wash and Protective Glaze, which is an ionized formula, rather than a molecular formula (as in the Classic).  What this means is that it will attack any organic material (bird droppings, bugs, etc) much better than the the Classic, and will also impart a small electric charge on the vehicles surface (from WikiPedia: An ion is an atom or group of bonded atoms which have lost or gained one or more electrons, making them negatively or positively charged) which means that dust will not be attracted to the surface as much as with the Classic.

There are also other products: like the Premium Metal Polish, which is awesome on polished aluminum, or any other metal that is not clear coated; The Carpet and Fabric is also remarkable at removing stains from upholstery; The Leather and Vinyl, which cleans and protects leather surfaces without making them slippery; The Tire and Trim which gives your tires and rubber weatherstipping a nice semi-gloss finish, rather than a "wet look" finish; and of course the Oxygone(tm), which is a mild abrasive to remove oxidation from older, sun bleached paint, as well as hard water spots.

With the help of the mods here on MustangForums, I'm running a contest - more info is at the top of every forum section.  Just look for the DriWash Solutions Contest.

Well, that's enough for now, if you have any questions, send 'em my way either by a post, or a PM.

Ride Of The Month -> RE: DRI WASH 'n GUARD Special for Members (9/13/2007 12:31:43 PM)

hello all..

i commented in the contest thread, but i thought that i would post here, since i have quite a bit of experience with dri wash.

i have found it to be of great use both in showing my cars and racing.

for showing my various cars, its nice because in most cases, you dont have water, and this stuff does a much better job than does the regular store bought "quick detail", in my opinion.  it does a great job of getting bugs and road crap off the front of my white car, and another nice thing is the container/spray bottle that dri wash uses.  i dont like having an aerosol can rolling around in my cars, and at least once, ive broken the handle off of my quick detail spray.  my dri wash bottle is a self-pressurizing bottle.  you fill it up, and before you go to use it, you pump the lid, and it builds pressure to spray, and when youre done, you can relieve the pressure and it stays nice and compact.  im not sure about the size of the newer mustang glove boxes, but the dri wash spray bottle will fit in the glove box of several of my cars.

i would also imagine that the dri wash bottle is better for the environment, but im only guessing on that one.

i have also found that dri wash seems to "stretch" longer than store bought quick detailer, and johns prices are better than the prices of the guy ive been buying from since the mid to late 90s.

another thing, ive found that dri wash does a good job of getting rubber chunks off the rear quarters at the track, and i dont know if dri wash recommends this, but ive found that if i spray a little on the rear quarters before i do my burnouts, and leave it a bit damp, the rubber chunks wont stick to the quarters, so when i get back into the garage area, it all wipes right off.

before anyone asks, no ive not received anything special to post this, but ive used the product for years, and ive always been very happy with it...

if anyone has any questions about it, feel free to ask me..if you would rather not ask john.
