What is the best RPM to launch this car based on what you guys know for an all out drag
I'm aware its not amazingly fast, but this guy with a Celica GT talks alot of trash =) we are planning on racing, but i haven't really played around with launching rpms.. everything is stock and i'm just looking for a number to start playing around at?
Put this in the v6 forum as well, wasn't sure which one it belonged in :) Thanks for any help

Id say launch it at around 5000 rpm's and feather the clutch all the way through 1st gear, but if you wanna be traditional then I would guess 3000 - 35000 rpm would be a good place to start

ahha, i know they are nice game for a v6, that's why i'm asking advice from people who may have more experience with their car than i do
i told him to wait a little for me to get used to this car, i just got it and traded in my 2002 zx2, which is not a bad car itself, this is just.. alot more car :)
my car is 5 speed as well as his car, mine is 03 and his is.. not 03, but a newer model.. 01 or 02, i think i gotta get it straight off the line or i just won't, heh.. and i have a huge bottom end compared to his

Damn!
With my GT, I couldn't launch any higher than 2000 rpms otherwise I would REALLY spin & wheel hop all the way through 2nd & 3rd... I know he has a V6, but I saw a similar discussion and the guy had a V8!

and i know the guy in the celica likes to powershift, so should i also do that?
i chirp the back tires without power shifting, last thing i need is to lose more traction on the 1-2 shift.. that and i don't know how durable these mustang clutches and trannys are.. my zx2's were crappy =)

Just to be safe, I would powershift the hell out of it, and yes, those clutches are fairly tough. If you dont powershift and you lose or something, you wont get the chance to explain that you were taking it lightly on the gears ya know? Good luck man!!! Post those results after the race!.

on another positive note, he does have some type of subwoofers and stuff system in his car... i'd assume any weight on the back end of a FWD car is bad for them.. and just weight in general
I power shift so fast there isn't a chirp...I would invest in a beter shifter before you do...
dan????? did ya like that...some times some questions are just silly. I have driven 100's of cars all are different even 2 mustangvfast37916.8727662037

he claims to beat v6 mustangs all the time with his system in... and that he pulled on a GT (EDIT: that he BEAT one just barely [his car is fully stock by the way]).. and i just said the GT wasn't racing, cause those things haul ass stock :) Corrupted37916.8402314815

haha yeah, i couldn't think of a nice way to put it, "tuner" fits... and his special s2000 which stock is 1 second faster than all the others by a feat of magic! he has said he's getting an s2000 from some relative for 6 months at least now and that it runs LOW 13s stock, sometimes i wonder if he is a comedian

If he's not a comedian, he's got natural skills at making people laugh...
(edit) I just noticed you posted a pic of your car, I don't usually like the looks of a v6 mustang, but the color and THOSE wheels look real nice together. Nice choice...

I tried to look at those, but I got a "Page Not Found". I have the light grey premium wheels on mine which is Torch Red, but not too sure what they may look like on white. Honestly, I love your current wheels, maybe you should do a suspension mod instead. So you want different wheels so you can go wider with your tires?

yes, i would like wider tires. what if i did the charcoal colored GT rims and do some kind of black/white thing with the car.. thats why i was looking at the mach1's because they keep the same color basically
