v6 bumper FTW.
looks more retro.
What does FTW mean....? #2...Does anyone know of a shop that will cut the bumper around Trenton MI ???
Here's the template you can use to cut the bumper. I didn't cut mine, but the shop that installed my mufflers did using this template. They said it was not hard at all. After they did the cut, they sanded it down a little and applied Motorcraft's touch-up paint on the edge of the cut.
Rather than start a new thread with the same topic header, I am going to add my information here:
The system was installed today, and I think it came out great. Compared to stock it is much deeper and mellower - compared to my Flowmaster American Thunder it is also a mellower tone, and no drone on the highway. Once I changed to the 3.73's the AT just became too loud inside on the highway, I couldn't talk to anyone and had to turn the radio way up to hear. The GT take offs are a great compromise. The only issue we had was the X pipe at 2 1/2 inches is much larger than the 2 1/4 inch exhaust down tubes on the V6 - so we welded the X in where the Y was cut out, and that is probably a better fit anyway and guard against any blow by.
The shop here in Port Huron only charged me $80 for the installation, and that included trimming up the bumper cut out where my cut was a little tight on the driver side tip. I didn't think to ask them Theresa if they would have done the entire cut out if you wanted to make the trip up to Port Huron!
I'll post a video as soon as I can get it to load somewhere, but here are some pics of the install and final product: I painted the take offs black like the Flowmaster AT so it hides behind the stock V6 bumper

what about anti-Osama stickers while you're at it? there are plenty of other characters in this world to hate on. also, think about tinting your windows. it will look wicked on your balck stang.
Just 'cause I don't like Bush doesn't mean I don't love America. I was born here you know. But we're here for cars not politics.

i put 245 along side my Saleen T side stripes. i love it and get quite a few compliments along with WHAT DOES 245 STAND FOR. even some GT guys ask me.
Hahaha!! Yeah I just have the stock white PP Stripes so I couldn't do what you did. I've never really talked to any other Mustang enthusiasts outside of my family (my brother owns a mineral grey metallic '05 V6) and the one small Mustang show I went to a couple months ago.

Do they heat up equally or does it still just come out of the right pipe?
Haven't thought about that. Next time I go somewhere (probably tonight) I'll make sure to see if they're both hot. It's an H-Pipe, not a Y-Pipe so it should be even.

+1 on using the stock V6 bumper...as many GT owners are so quick to tell us V6 owners, it's NOT a GT so don't put a GT bumper on it,lol!
On another note, I had gotten a clip of the exhaust sound with me just revving the engine in Neutral but unbeknownst to me my brother turned on his car and drove away while filming, so the sounds overlap. I'll probably do another recording tomorrow. Sorry about that guys.

GT Dual Exhaust Blacked Out Front Signal Lights Pony Package LED Brake Lights
It only took him about an hour and half total, and he trimmed the bumper a little because my cut was a little off. The driver side is out just a hair further I noticed later today - it looked fine on the hoist and he made some adjustments until we both thought it looked even. So I may just go under and loosen the clamp a little and see if I can get it back about a half inch. He said that he was glad I went with the X because he thinks it gives a better tone - I am happy. I finally got the video to upload. Unfortunately I don't have a video of the stock exhaust for comparison. I also noticed watching this video that I need to go out and check my third brake light, it isn't lighting up I see! New GT duals with X pipe: Have to fix this link, only part of the video uploaded for some reason. Link fixed, the full 1 1/2 minute video is here now. http://s154.photobucket.com/albums/s256/jimandpat/New%20dual%20exhaust%20installation/?action=view¤t=MVI_0708.flv Single Flowmaster American Thunder: http://s154.photobucket.com/albums/s256/jimandpat/?action=view¤t=MVI_0226.flv

Finally got a Dual Exhaust for my 2006 PP V6. I love it. ;o Here's some pictures:
It's just the stock GT dual exhaust (H Pipe for those wondering) so it's nothing special, but it looks a lot better than having just one muffler sticking out the right. The car sounds way meaner now and seems to be getting better mileage on the highway. I haven't done any in-town driving yet tho, so we have yet to see there. I'd definitely reccomend it to anyone. Maybe Flow Masters or Magnaflows would sound better, but the stock GT version sounds good enough for me.
The bumper is my old V6 bumper. The guy who installed the exhaust just cut out the notch for the exhaust, but we provided him with an outline of how it should look so he could trace it, and with that he did a good job.
Hi, you inspired me to ask questions in the other thread, but I finally found yours so I will ask you :)
By GT dual exhaust, do you mean you bought the whole kit from Ford directly or did you buy someone's used GT exhaust (the whole thing, pipes and mufflers?) You said you get about 2-3 more MPG, is this still holding up?
How much did it end up running you total with the parts and installation?

I've got the one GT takeoff on my car now, the other will be put on when I get the rest of the stuff I need. To convert to duals, you basically need two mufflers (hence the GT takeoffs) that are pretty easy to come by. I put out a wanted listing on craig's list and got a reply from someone in 3 days. Paid no shipping and the guy wanted to get rid of them, so I got them for $60 for the pair. Then after that, you need two midpipes and either an X-Pipe or an H-Pipe and two brackets for the new muffler. Pypes makes a good kit, along with other companies, they're all pretty similar. I'll probably buy the Pypes kit. http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/05V6Exhaust.htm you want the Pypes Performance 2005 + V6 X-Pipe and Mid Pipes. You can also get it done cheaper by having a shop fabricate the pipes themselves, but from what I hear, it sounds/performs better to do it with the kits, despite the cost. After that, you basically bring all the parts to a shop and they'll install it for between $100 and $200 depending on region/time taken etc.Total cost is somewhere around $500. That's pretty much it, hope that helped someone.

GT takeoff bumpers are REALLY cheap from saleen and they make all the difference in the world. I disagree with the stock v6 bumper making it look more retro... the rear end of the 60s mustangs was alot smaller so the dual exhaust on those looked appropriate. We have huge rear ends.. the pipes stick out too low underneath the bumper (especially if you lower your car) and they look like they don't belong there... kind of like those mexicans who put a white door on a black car.
I just bought the V6 Pypes Mid-Muffler kit from BlueOvalIndustries.
$399 + $50 S/H (Virginia to California)
I should be getting it by the end of next week and will probably have it installed the week after since I'm busy with work, etc.
I'll try and borrow a friends video camera so I can record a sound clip for you guys. I've had a hell of a time finding one for the V6! Seems all the clips of the mid-mufflers I find are GT's.

Thank you for the informative reply. By GT takeoff, do you mean it was "taken off" of a GT or is that a specific brand or type?
Sorry for the stupid questions, I am a clueless newb

yeah, they just take them off to put aftermarket ones on their GT's. They even have the Ford logo stamped on the mufflers.

You should have shopped around...lethalperformance.com had them for $299 shipped, just put them on my GT frigging unreal, true late 60's early 70's musclecar sound!

I did shop around.
You should probably get your info right next time.
I just checked lethalperformance.com and it's exactly as I suspected.
You are talking about Pypes SFM66 which is the GT version. Get that - GT? NOT V6. That one is $299 as you said.
If you went and looked at the V6 page you would see that they only offer SFM65 and SFM68 which is NOT what I purchased. Those arent even MID-MUFFLERS systems, they're catback systems. I bought SFM69 which is the complete V6 Mid-Muffler kit.
So, in conclusion - SFM69 is not offered where you said it is so I did just fine with my purchase. Because if you did look around you'd find that virtually no place offers the SFM69 system other than Pypes, RPM Outlet and BlueOvalIndustries. S**t, even American Muscle doesn't sell the V6 - only the GT.
PS: Pypes sells SFM69 for $540 (not including s&h) and RPM Outlet has it listed for $349.95 (not including s&h). Sure I could have saved $50 at RPM but they are F-ups of the highest orders so I stayed way clear of them.

I just put on dual GT takeoffs. They look great and soung good. My engine idle dropped a little, I suspect from less restriction from the exhaust. Anyone else notice this. Its no big deal, shakes a little at a light. Would a flash tuner be able to correct this?

Did you go with H or X pipes? Nope, haven't noticed any difference in the idle or any shaking.
