Are tinted tail- and headlights illegal in the state of Massachusetts? Cannot find information anywhere.
Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

I have tinted taillights on my car and I haven't gotten any problems at all. I do remember that my friend had those gts blackout headlight covers on his car and a cop made him take them so i'm not too sure about the taillights.

my guess is theyre not gonna get you in trouble on the road, but you may not pass inspection with it.

I am prety sure they are illegal, but I have been pulled over a hadful of times now and they haven't said anything.  No tickets either.  Be polite, it goes a long way.

In MA, it's illegal to modify your headlights/tail lights in any way other than to increase your vision or safety.

This means replacing your headlight assembly or tail lights with aftermarket units. However, if they retain their reflective properties & the headlights retain their amber reflective turn signals, you'll likely be left alone by the police. In the event of an accident, don't be surprised if the police find a way to ticket you for these things.

You will likely have trouble with most inspection stations in MA, the vast majority are Nazi's.
