Ok so technicaly I'm not a mustang owner yet. I'm looking to buy a used one, right now I have my eye on a 1989
My goal is to get a relitavly cheap one and then modify it to my liking

But since I'm really new at this I was hoping someone could give me some tips on the best way to go about this and what would be some appropriate mods for the style of car.

I've seen lots of people say no to style kits and the like so I'm wondering why? would style kits on a 1989 be okay or a no-no
And how about hoods?
Are racing strips passe?

Wow after writing that I feel even more noob then i did before

Welcome to the forums, if you're looking at a 5.0 like I assume you are, there are a lot of ways to go, but the best answers will be given to you in the 5.0 section like red said. Exterior is all personal taste, just go with what you think looks good, in the end it's your car.

Never can start too early. I had the fortune of it being in my families possession already, I just had to work on it.
