Default Help please.....Towing Question

Hello,

Girlfriend has a 2000 V-6 convertible with approximately 120k. We are interested in purchasing a used boat (we know we both need our heads examined ), and need to know the towing capabilities of the Mustang. Out of the 4 vehicles owned between us the Mustang is our only tow car choice as the others are either to dangerous to tow with, or are impossible to install a hitch on.

We are currently looking at a 19 foot inboard run a bout or bow rider, and would like to have some opinionsas to the capabilities or fiesability of towing this size boat with the Mustang....as to is a 19 foot to much weight for the tranmission or drive train. Current usuage plans only include towing approximately 25 to 50miles to a boat ramp.

Thank you,

Nic

how much does the boat weigh? the mustang can only tow 1,000 lbs w/ a tounge load..or whatever the hell its called, of 100 lbs.

oh yea and the 1000 lbs included the trailer too, so if you had a 1000 lb boat it would be too much because of the weight of the trailer

I would not recommend it at all. I've seen people tow jet ski's at the very most and then only 1, not 2. Your problems are going to be when it comes to braking and pulling that thing up the launch. The car has a "tow rating" but I would recommend getting a small pickup like a ranger or F150.

Please dont be that DUMB - the car was not built for that it will stress the car - remember that the mustang is a subframe car
