after having my mustang for a little over a year ive decided to get a bike instead of upgrading, a gt was an option, but im 17 and dont need to be paying 500 a month for a car payment. i figured a bike is faster than my mustang could ever be and its alot cheaper, so why not. im thinking a gixxer 600 or a ninja zx-6r

also alot more dangerous, more likely to get into an accident, and more likely to get pulled over. NOT saying dont get one, my bro has a 600 cc bike and its a blast to ride but watch out for dumbasses on the road, if ur in their blind spot and they hit you, GOODBYE. just watch out, be carefull

Hey good luck to you, thanks for letting us all know that you are going to have the capabilities to go from 0-100MPH in about 3 seconds.....that makes the roads much safer....

17 years old + Ninja level bike? There's a sure recipe for safety and responsible motor vehicle operation.
I'd give my 17 year old a loaded revolver and a case of Jagermeister first..... imho no one should be operating one of those type bikes until they're old enough for the fact that they're NOT actually immortal and/or indestructable to truly register (which usually occurs sometime in the 20's)
I just sold two harleys that we've been riding for 12 years and bought a '06 V6 Mustang.
On a MC, it's not IF you'll lay it down, it's WHEN. I liad mine down when a local college student turned left in front of me - luckily I walked away with just a few scratches. Too many folks just don't see bikes on the road.
Dude - stay with the car, and take it as a challenge to make it perform better than a GT. You'll be better off in the long run.
My young friend, I am 48 and I have been riding bikes since I was 11. Bikes are great! They are as safe as you ride them. I support your wantinf to ride but if I can give you some advise. Take a rider course and if your gonna race or drag take it to a track. Just respect the machine it doesn't care if you ride it into a tree. When I was 17 I rode summer and winter since the bike was my only transportation and mine was a 125cc bike not the awsomely powerful bikes of today. Good luck Phil

Well, that's a sickly sight, seems rider survived.(but to what extent?) Everyone I've known back when I was in my late teens/early twenties(1983-1988) that rode a motorcycle had some sort of mishap encounter with a car, this was before cellphones and minivans, which have the WORST drivers(I drive for a living) regardless of race/gender. I can only imagine what a motorcycle rider must encounter these days. If, at 17, you're already tired of the performance of a high14/low 15 second Mustang, then you are indeed IMO raising the bar on performance so high that you might never be satisfied in any car. Driving(trust me) isn't about just going fast, it's a means to arrive at your destination of choice, and when on public roads(probably 99% of everyone's driving) you must share with others regardless of their driving experience/skill. My thoughts? Get a dirt bike and ride offroad(to get your jollies off) and keep your 'Stang for taking the g/f, buddies and parents(what happens in an emergency and you're the only one able to drive and you only have a cycle?) around in. Don't live too quickly JMHO

I wouldnt advise on getting a bike, 90% of AIU Investigations is the bikers fault, just a couple weeks ago, HP responded to a biker who crashed into a truck doing 100 mph.........biker went DOA.
being on a bike makes you do dumb things, especially if theres a hot girl in the lane next to you, and you want to impress her.
good luck, and if you do get one, please be careful on it, Ive seen alot of good people injured or killed on those death traps, and then make a notification to a parent that there little boy was just decapitated because he did a buck 20 on the parkway!

i dont think this thread is gonna change his mind, i think we all pretty much agree that he should keep the stang, but he is 17 hes gonna do what he wants, all were saying man is watch out for other cars, thats the huge danger of riding bikes, and dont be one of those assholes who weaves in and out of traffic at 100, cuz if u fall........................lights out.

i see where everyone is coming from, yes i know bikes are dangerous. i do plan on taking a rider safety coarse. i am keeping the mustang too, and will be using the bike as a second way of getting around on the weekends, not to mention mostly during the day.
i agree a supercharger would do it, or do what i did, search around like a crazy everyday on autotrader.com until you find a good deal on a car that you want. I got myself an 04gto with a hell of a price that i could not resist and my payments are the same

Dennis, I don't know where you get your info from. I have been riding for 36 years and though I have done some silly things as I (and we) all have done in cars too, being on a bike accually makes me less likely to ride dangerously understanding how exposed I am. Now, most of us are on here talking about increasing power on our cars power that no one needs but we want it any way. The car (or bike) is only as dangerous as you use it. As for someone hitting you that can happen walking across the sreet. The OP said he's gonna take a rider course that will give him some skill and respect for the bike. Let's not be a bunch of ol ladies telling him how stupid he is to want to ride, while we tweek our cars to go faster. Hopefully he's a responsible young guy and will do well on his bike........ I did and still do
