Has anyone ever heard of using a different hatch shock than stock?  Just wondering if I could replace them with something a little stronger.

Where's a good place to get those?  Also, I'm looking at replacing all the weatherstripping in my '83.  Do you know where I could get good quality replacements?

I have swapped out the hatch shocks on  other cars. It took some trial and error to size them. I went to a self service junkyard to size them.  I would think a same size strut from a heavier application (like a station wagon lift gate) is what you might want. I once carried a small pair of vise-grips and clamped them on the strut shaft to keep a lid open.
