I'll condense this information into my blog in a few days so that people don't have to read this gigantic thread to learn to do this.

Yup. Just wait until I have this stuff organized, I'll make a step by step guide and post a thread about the update.

Just did this mod tonight. Let me tell ya folks, if you don't have great eyes, don't even ATTEMPT this mod. I do happen to have 20/20 vision and it was super tedious. I had some time to kill and thought what the heck, at least I'll get to take apart my drive by wire system and see what it entails. The pictures don't even do justice to how small these little brushes are. You would actually need a dedicated workbench, jewelers tools and a jewelers eyeglass to do it correctly. I ended up just holding the little spring clips and running my finger briskly across each brush to flatten it out. Does it make a difference?? Yes!!! it does. Heel/toe shifting quickly you can really tell a difference. I thought I was used to that dead spot and had acclimated myself to it, but no. It does make the diff, ever so small but noticable. Great, cheap mod.

ORIGINAL: grampa_stang I didn't read all 2x pages, but I was thinking. If you bend something to make it reach farther (which is what was done to reach the dead spot) How can it possibly hit WOT (since it was bent away from WOT position) If the brushes travel the same distance when going from idle to WOT, lets say it travels an inch, and the starting point is altered by bending the brushes to start/contact 1/4 inch early, then shouldn't the stopping point (wot) also be 1/4 inch early, so it wouldn't actually be able to reach the full wot position? I think you know what I mean... I think you have a couple things backwards. The drawings in this post should help: http://www.mustangforums.com/fb.asp?m=3804169 I think it's actually when the dead spot off idle exists that there's some remote possibility of WOT not being registered.
