Well Jthorn and Nanaki don't really get is cause Nanaki's always here, and Jthorn used to have a six. I don't get it so much cause I had a six and my first 1000 or so posts were in the V6 section.

But watch a random V8 member come in. They'll post their $0.02  and  some V6 owner will see they  own a V8 and get all pissy and say something like "Why are you in our section?!" or something stupid like that, when the V8 owner never even mentioned something about having a V8 or anything to that extent. It does happen. It's like the V6 owners feel the need to defend themselves for owning a six. I dunno. I never felt that way.

Well, a lot of sixer drivers actually do have to defend themselves from time to time on these forums. Especially in OT. A sixer going into the OT is kind of like a white dude walking onto the set of soul train - sometimes no one notices, and sometimes people talk trash.

The only time I've really gotten pissed at people bashing sixers was when Redass said he wanted to splatter the brains of all sixer drivers against a barn. That was just harsh. I think he was kidding though...then some chick came in and said guys who driver v6's are vaginas....grr.

Well that was Redass... You can't take that seriously. I personally think he's one of the funnier members here.

If they're from a reputable seller, then hell yes. It's all around better, economy wise, to just buy a car with a V8 than to do the swap from something, like in your case a 4 cylinder, to a V8. Reason being, everything has to be changed, and by everything, I mean damn near everything. The only thing an I4 Mustang and an LX 5.0 have in common is the basic body and interior design, but everything from the suspesion, to the drivetrain, to the electronics, and cooling is different.

Would putting in a rebuilt 2.3 Turbo cause the same problems or no?

No it will not cause the same problems, however, and that's being used in a very "big" tone of voice, it depends on how much restoration your car needs. In other words, through a turbo on that car now and your piston rings will probably fry, and your seals, that are already bad, may go. In any since, doing a turbo swap on a car in the condition yours is in, is going to require some cash to be put into the engine itself to make sure that everthing goes fine. In other words, new gaskets should be applied, along with new seals where needed. The engine block and heads should be examined for wear to make sure that it can take the added boost, and or just get a new/rebuilt block along with heads, and you'll be set to go, get my drift here.

I only break that out for V6 bashers who are serious. The really arrogent owners who have never riden in a V6 let alone will realize they don't own the fastest thing on 4 wheels. Funny enough, any and all of them I've challenged to put their car up against my "little girly whimpy slow blah blah blah" V6 have backed down. Can't figure out why?

Jeremiah - keep the 2.3L motor. Look around at other 2.3L owners and see what they are doing. Don't let anyone tell you it's a bad motor. Ford slapped them in everything from Mustangs to Escorts to Rangers. The 2.3L T would be a good swap to look into. Do the whole motor, though, not just the turbo. I'm currently looking for an SVO Mustang to buy. I've owned the high hp V8 mustangs, worked my way to the V6 and now want to try the 2.3T. I think it will be a lot of fun. I'm sure you'll feel the same way. Sounds like you have a great car to start to learn on. You don't need eight billion horse power. Small steps work well. We all started at zero and worked our way up. We can't hold anything against you for starting now.

Why down grade from a good V6 to a crappy V8?

haha yea the v6 was a lot more comfortable. i have just always liked the fox mustangs since i was really little and i always wanted one. my dad now drives my sixer and i admit sometimes when i went out i would take the '02 because the ride isnt so rough and the clutch isn't as stiff. the decision didnt really have a lot to do with performance. i was perfectly happy with the '02s performance. it was a fun car to have

meh...  the same could be said for v8 owners or 4cyl owners who built their cars up too.  why would i downgrade from a good v8 or 4cyl to a crappy v6?  neither is crappy once you do REAL mods to it.  i'd keep my v8 over your v6 any day.  simply because i know what it's capable of, what's been done to it, and the fact i still have even more room to grow.
