my mustang is has been lowered alot but was like that when i bought it, I have low profile tires amd the cobra rims. It rides really rough, though there is nothing wrong with the shocks. I want to make my ride smoother. Does any one have any advice on what works best. I have been told to air bag it or get adjustable shocks. I just want to do what would be best for my car...thanks...michele              (The side view of my car is in the attachment below)

its not really about the money, i just really want to know which option would be best for my car regarding wear and tear on the supporting parts really and of course smoothness. Iv'e already had to replace a part that just snapped in half due to roughness when i hit bumps!! ouch! just want to keep in in grea condition, thanks!

Lowering your car gives your suspension less travel distance so you car will ride stiffer. the tires also have a lot of effect on the ride. the taller the sidewall the smoother the ride. Unfortunately youre car is so low that you cant put taller tires on it without downsizeing your rims..which i doubt you want to do anyway. which puts you at raising your car back up or putting airbags an all 4 corners.

As far as i know those are your three options for a smoother ride.

Taller tires and smaller rims.
Raise car.
Airbags.

If theres another option that i've missed, let me know.

thats about it, if you want to raise your car you could swop someone on here for there stock springs, if you dont want to spend any money, the other two options will cost you between 1000.00 to 2000.00 depending on what you would go with. air bags are cool but pricey, smaller rims not cool...

You said you bought it that way? What I would do is buy a coil-over kit that is adjustable and raise the car to whatever height you want it to be.  The eibach kit sells for around 1000 and H&R sells one for about 1100.  You can also sell your used springs on ebay to make a little money back too

I noticed a difference in ride stiffness in my 03 GT immediately after I yanked the stock seats and put in some Corbeau race seats. With less padding the ride felt much stiffer and you can feel a lot more bumps on the road. I noticed it rode smoother after having lowered the tire pressure at the track. I t wasn't alot but it was noticeable. You may want to try that since I think if you bought the car that way you want it to have that low profile. I don't think raising it is the answer since I assume, it isn't bottoming out. I would think for what you want it would be better to work with someone on getting your shock and spring rates to your desired stiffness. You can improve ride this way and still have a low profile for your car. If you really want to fine tune the ride of your car I would run double adjustable shocks with the correct spring rates. This may take a little experimentation on your part but you will be much happier with the ride.

John
