Intercooled Whipple for the 5 speed 07 GT arrives soon.  What non-standard tools are required for the install?  Thank you in advance for your kind, tender words.

9/16" spark plug socket
1/2" breaker bar
10mm ratcheting wrench
torque wrenches
fuel line removal tool
heater hose (pinch clamp) tool (optional large channel locks work well)
allen wrenches

i'll add to the list as i think of more.....

good luck with the install, several of us here have done it and we're
here for moral support

I believe you also need a 5mm allen head socket.  You could probably just use an allen wrench, but you wouldn't be able to torque it to spec.

Buy the 5/8" fuel line disconnect tool.  You can find these in any auto parts store.

Thanks, guys!  Additionally, what other sealants, products and related items should be used in the install.

I've ordered an IAT sensor and connector to place in the prebored intake hole.  Which MAF wires are used in the IAT sensor relocation?  Pics and a walkthrough would be great, if you have 'em.

Finally, how did you plan your fuel line tap for a fuel pressure gauge?  Pics/walkthrough on this one as well!

It's going to add up to a lot of smoke and burnt rubber.

What IAT sensor did you order?  I read the post about relocating the iat without drilling and tapping the manifold, but I don't think I want to modify a plastic iat sensor.  Don't wire the new sensor until you are ready to get a dyno tune.  It wouldn't be advisable to run the whipple tune with the iat relocated, whipple said that not me.

I'm going to drill and tap my manifold, but i'm not putting in a iat sensor right now.  I will put in a plug until I get it dyno tuned.

You'll also need a dremel tool (or die grinder, etc) and a cutting wheel to cut a tab off of the automatic tensioner.

The install manual calls out RED and BLUE loctite thread locker in various places.
Also, teflon thread sealer is needed on some of the intake fittings. I used ARP thread sealer.

You'll need about a gallon of distilled water and some antifreeze coolant for the IC system. They also recommend Redline Water Wetter for better cooling.

Some things to watch out for on the install:
The manual said to use the factor MAF sensor screws. Don't do it unless you are 100% sure the threads are the same.
My factory MAF screws were coarse threaded and too long. I snapped one off in the MAF housing.

They dont' give you the torque spec for the idler pulley. It's 18ft lbs. (That's from the Hayne's manual)

The brackets that hold the intercooler radiator to the car had the wrong nuts welded onto them.
The brackets are diamond shaped. The bolts they give you (8mm x 35mm flat head allen) won't thread into the nuts.
The nuts on the bracket are 5/16" standard thread. You might want to check this before you get in the middle of the install.
I had to go out and find some bolts that would work.
I'd also be curious to know if they fixed this... I emailed them but they said the nuts were correct...  NOT.

The instructions also call for gasket cinch when installing the blower onto the intake manifold.  I've never heard of gasket cinch, but i'll be looking for it next time I got to the store.

Thanks all.

Moose, nice link to the manual.  I emailed Whipple to ask for the installation PDF but they wouldn't email it to me.  I ordered the plastic Ford IAT sensor and connector like the one used in the IAT sensor relocation thread.  I think I'll go with one of the Whipple email tunes (any suggestions?) right off the bat and blow some shat up!

hammeron where'd you get your fuel line stuff from?

doctorstrobe, strong work on the idler pully torque and thanks for the heads-up on the bolt/nut mismatch

You do not want to relocate the iat sensor and use the whipple tune.  The whipple tune must compensate for heat produced after compression and if it sees allready really hot air it will assume the compressed air charge is even hotter.  Basically it will run like sh!t.  If you don't plan on getting a dyno tune right away then don't bother relocating the iat right now.

hammeron I think I'll go with the Summit fitting.  What size is the fuel line crossover hose?

moose, sorry I wasn't clear bout the tune.  Closest dyno is 2 hours (one way) over in CA rather than here in AZ.  So, I think I'll go with an aftermarket tune for the Whipple right off the bat.  Maybe VMP and doing some back and forth with datalog info by email to "tighten" the tune up.  I haven't really made up my mind on the tune supplier.

By the way, will any of the wideband O2 sensors fit into the rear bungholes of the Pypes off road H pipe?

No go on the fuel crossover hose size?  Summit has two chrome fittings like the one pictured above, one with a 3/8" nipple and one with a 1/2" nipple.  Not sure which one to purchase.

i may have used a slightly different size fuel line, then
what comes in the whipple kit, that's why i was hesitant
to quote sizes.

of the two choices you listed 3/8 & 4/8, i would go with
the 3/8.

I have a spare  length of the hose.
I measure the inside diameter as  0.315" so it would have to be the 3/8".
(3/8" is 0.375 but they probably measure the barbs so it should be just right)
It's definitely not the 1/2"

The stock hard lines are 3/8 inch, says so right on them, i don't see why the crossover hose with the wipple would be larger.

Thanks guys, you're all super!  So I'm going with the 3/8" fitting.  What do you think about the wideband O2 sensor in one of the rear offroad H pipe bungholes?
