Products used: - Porter Cable Model 7424
- PoorBoys SSR1 & 2.5 (Super Swirl Remover)
- Obsessive Detail Wet Shine Glaze
- Opti-Seal Spray Sealant
- Orange Light Cutting Pad
- White Polishing Pad
- Black Foam Finishing Pad
I ordered the Poor Boys/Porter Cable kit from Juztang @ www.obsessivedetail.com on a Thursday afternoon. I received my package on Tuesday afternoon!! Anyway, I was so excited to get to work that I never even got remotely close to taking 'before' pictures. Let me just explain what kind of condition my paint was in - my car is black, kept outdoors for the majority of spring & summer - was parked under a tree & fell victim to many bird turds that went unnoticed for several days. So while she cleaned up nice & looked okay, when you got close you could see the wear & tear on the paint, not to mention the 800,000,000,000,000 swirls that are inevitable to a degree with black cars... The black paint had lost it's depth and had a hazey silverish look that just made me think this Ford Black was a crappy color. After using a clay bar on the entire vehicle, I set up my new PC 7472 from ObsessiveDetail.com with the Orange cutting pad & Poor Boys SSR1. I decided to start with the hood of my car with the lightest compound to see what kind of nightmare I was in for trying to remove every blemish. I buffed a 2x2 section with thie SSR1/Orange pad combination & wiped away the product with ease, the first great quality I noticed was how simple it was to remove the product - took NO pressure or effort, you could throw the microfiber cloth at the spot & it would wipe off. That's how easy it is! The swirl marks were instantly removed & many of the minor scratches were removed. I used the SSR1 on the entire hood - it removed every swirl & all the minor scuffs/scratches without much effort at all, it was about a 30 minute job since I was working very slow and carefully to begin with. Every swirl was completely gone, all of the minor scuffs & scratches were removed. The only scratches left were soon to be victims of SSR2.5 & the Orange cutting pad. The SSR2.5 & Orange cutting pad were up to the task & were able to remove all the ugly deeper scratches & moderate bird etchings. Once again I was impressed by how easy it was to remove the product. After doing the entire vehicle in SSR2.5, I quickly passed over the entire car with the SSR1 and the true color & shine finally started to show through. It was looking like a million bucks without any applications of ObsessiveDetail.com's own acrylic glaze - I knew I was going to be in for a laughing fest when I was all done. I switched to the black foam applicator pad & started to fire on the acrylic glaze using no pressure other than the machines weight. Instantly upon applying the paint increased in depth, wetness & gloss - not to mention the very FEW significant scratches I couldn't work out without heavier compounds & harsher pads (believe me, these scratches were bad) completely vanished with the glaze. Once again I was extremely pleased with how incredibly EASY it was to remove the product & to especially have NO STREAKING or residue. I then applied a coat of Opti-Seal Sealant, Justin recommended I use a sealant since my car is exposed to harsher conditions, I live downwind from a trash facility & the acid rain is flat out ruthless. The best part is, the Opt-Seal cures very quickly & you can apply multiple layers. It's a clear liquid in a spray bottle, you give the applicator pad a small squirt & then (here is the best part) you wipe it on...and WALK AWAY! ABSOLUTELY NO BUFFING! I simply wiped the product on and stood back to watch it dry. I let it cure & came back later to apply another coat. After curing, I took the water hose out & decided to test the product. I was amazed at how much of the water SHEETED off the car, rather than tightly bead & just sit on the finish. Any small amounts of water that didn't sheet of beaded very tight & was easily removed with a microfiber cloth. In the end my paint finish looked deeper, richer & better than it did leaving the factory. All of the car shows I've been to, I'd be hard pressed to find a black car that shines like mine does right now. The finish in incredible & you'll realize just how crappy your car looks right now once you buy these products & get to work! I can't begin to explain how many waxes & polishes I've bought over the years, or how many times my elbows & shoulders have ached from countless hours of struggling to wax & buff everything off. Justin from ObsessiveDetail.com was MORE than helpful, infact it was like he was excited to have me pick his brain. He tossed in a freebie of his own Detailing Spray, the stuff works excellent & it was the first detail spray I've used that didn't leave streaks. Bottom line is, out of all the mods I've purchased for my cars throughout the years, the one non-performance purchase I made has turned out to be the best. The Porter Cable 7472 Kit With PoorBoys SSR1 & 2.5 from ObsessiveDetail.com. Just a FYI, Justin hasn't cut me a deal for this thread. I am just THAT pleased with his products! I will post some pictures once I can get my hands on a digital camera.

WOW, looks GOOD Dan. Looks like you're really happy with the kit. Some before pics would've been nice, but the after pics are pretty damn impressive to say the least! I just bought my first detailing kit this past weekend. I have water spots like a motherfukcer! I can't wait to put it to the test and get my beast shined up and lookin' right!

ORIGINAL: Eduardo Wow man, I just bought a porter cable 7424 too but mine didnt come out like yours. I'm gonna have to get some of the stuff you got. Looks great. What are you using for compounds? I had really bad spider webbing & a lot of scratches beneath the swirls I never saw until I started buffing. There was a few spots on my car that I really had to work to fix them... Overall I probably spent 45 minutes on my hood & roof combined, they had the worst etching of anywhere on the car. My doors & rear quarters had excessive scratches & swirls - each door took a good 20+ minutes. My paint was in really bad shape, the dealership that I purchased the car from was on a road going under massive reconstruction, including bridge work - so dust & dirt was flying all the time. I think the dealership would just send someone out with a car duster & wipe down the car. They hid it really well with whatever wax they put on it when I picked it up, after a couple washes I was wondering WTF I was doing wrong because there is no way my dumbass put all those marks in the car. I'm tellin' ya, if I was able to fix mine & make it look the way it does....you can fix yours. You could take the brightest lights you could find & I swear you couldn't find any evidence of what was there before...
