View Full Version : X-Charger Group Buy!!!
Ride Of The Month 08-25-2007, 08:00 PM By Popular Demand, here it is...the Explorer Express X-Charger group buy. This is for serious inquires only. If you don’t have the funds, or can’t do it for another two years, that’s fine. Just put it in another thread. Keep this thread clean and for group buy purposes only.
These are the lowest prices that will ever be quoted for Mustang X-Chargers. Dave@EE has made an exception to do another one of these due to stang owners beating down his door with emails and phone calls requesting another group buy. This offer is to members only.
Xcharger group buy technical discussion, questions and answers can be found here: http://www.mustangforums.com/m_3763547/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#3763547

Ditto to all of the above. At the other place, there's even a rather extensive thread on X-Charger information, kind of like a combination of "inside tricks" and "lessons learned" that, "kollektively," is just a wealth of information for anyone willing to read through all the posts.

Ride Of The Month 09-15-2007, 11:09 PM if those other sites hadnt had members who were so childish as to send out waves of spam of that site through the PM system here, we wouldnt have to filter said sites.
the corral and stangnet arent filtered, and others are..all for a reason.
lets not turn this into a political debate.
if those of you with knowledge would just answer questions rather than shipping people off to other sites, we wouldnt need filters.
rygenstormlocke 09-16-2007, 07:08 AM Agreed, no need to turn this into a debate. Thanks for posting this group buy up ROTM. :)

standard kit comes with a GT airbox maf, the hi-po kit comes with a CAI and they use 2 different pulley sizes which gives different amounts of boost, I will be glad to answer any questions here, not on very much so may not reply right away. I have Xcharger # 3, been on for a year now (well except when I was building my motor. LOL)

8cd03gro 09-17-2007, 10:02 PM hmmm....this means i could get the full kit with a 2.8" and the wet-x system for about 4k flat (i already have an x-cal)....very interesting.

Trmachuno 10-18-2007, 06:00 PM Need Help, gonna ask my parents for a loan to get this and need a few ?'s answered 1st.
1. How many are left(hi-po's and regular)and how much would I save right now?
2. Below what rpm's are you out of boost?
3. Is it ok to run 4.10's with the hi-po kit?
Thanks ahead of time!

1. You will need to ask the person running the group buy
2. RPM doesn't determine when you're in boost.... engine load and throttle position determine boost. (The bypass valve is vacuum controlled.) I can drive around all day and never hit boost... but what fun is that :D:D
3. Several X owners have 4.10s and I haven'theard/read any complaints.
Trmachuno 10-18-2007, 09:21 PM Thanx for the help! Hopefully the person who knows the answer to:

blackstang14 10-21-2007, 08:46 PM Hey guys,
With talk of the new intercooler, will this be available after I have already purchased and installed my x charger, or should I wait until the full kit is available? Thanks.

I believe it is still going.

Found this in the thread. Like dmhines said, your best bet is to call Doug at EE and ask him if you can get it at the lowered price or ask when/if the next group buy is. I guess he might/probably will have one aroundwhen the intercooler comes out. Just a guess though.
basketballord 02-18-2008, 08:57 PM You can count me in if another group buy comes around.
moonstang 02-18-2008, 11:05 PM Ditto!

Trmachuno 02-19-2008, 01:24 PM No intercooler out yet, but the last group buy had discount of $200/person if 5+ units sold and $400/person if 10+ units sold.
rygenstormlocke 02-20-2008, 01:49 PM We got an update on the groupbuy, as follows....
The clock is reset, and we are strating the group buy fresh from today.....
This could be the last X-Charger group buy due to Steeda possibly buying the parts from Dave and selling the system. If that happens then Dave@EE will not be allowed to sell his units for less than the Steeda price.
If you are thinking about it now is the time and he is limiting the group buy to 10 units as well.
ODDYSEY 02-20-2008, 02:09 PM What kind of pricing for the group buy? (sorry if its already stated I didnt see it)

So then is the intercooler gonna be sold by Dave@EE when it comes out or straight to Steeda for sale? I'm thinking if what you said is happening then the intercooler will be sold under/by steeda from the time table I hear.

basketballord 02-25-2008, 10:05 PM all those who order get the discount. Example: if only 7 units are ordered, all 7 orders will get the $200 discount. If 10 units are ordered, all 10 orders get the $400 dicount.
LX200 02-25-2008, 10:06 PM Shipping begins now at 5 unit price. If 10 is reached, the first "X" folks who paid get a refund to get everybody to 10 unit pricing. Great deal, you don't have to wait.

No, you're not retarded, legit question. The group buy is limited to 10 units, meaning only one more spot is open. The group buy is for any of the supercharger units that Explorer Express sells: http://www.explorerexpress.com/mustang-0508-superchargers-c-86_87.html
$200 off right now to everyone committed to the group buy, and as soon as the next person orders and we hit 10 units, it will be a $400 discount for everyone.

Wondering how much is the price going up? I have sold my 4.0, butstill wondering how much the price is gonna go up. I know I heard he was selling the suprcharger to steeda or someone. My guess would be if you didn't buy it in the group buy, you'd be paying $600-$800 more at least forone later.

How much is it with the group buy
Which one?Any one will be $400 less than sticker price.
moonstang 03-13-2008, 09:35 PM Supercharger packages are listed here:
http://www.explorerexpress.com/mustang-0508-superchargers-c-86_87.html
Prices range from 3795 to 4395, so the price after the discount will be from 3395 to 3995 depending on the kit you want.
socal2fast 03-17-2008, 01:04 PM How many power will this add? Is the CA. Kit CARB Legal with CARB stickers on it?
I have a 07 that is a Auto. so I'm looking for something that makes the car ALOT more fun for around town driving
I will not be doing any track stuff.
What do you guys think?
socal2fast 03-17-2008, 01:07 PM Oh and do they have a intercooled model out yet?
elroyjetson_1978 03-17-2008, 10:23 PM intercooler is coming soon still I think I heard middle of year. afixer is the best one to ask I think. and as far as horsepower you should be at about 250-260ish to the wheel with the CA kit I think.
basketballord 03-17-2008, 10:30 PM The Hi-po version will raise your RWHP to about 280, which is equivalent to 341 HP (assuming 18% drivetrain loss) at the crank compared with the stock 210 at the crank. Summary = about 100rwhp gain, about 130 hp gain at the crank. I think that the cali-spec version is about 25rwhp less.
And no, the intercooler is still in development.
Hope that answers your questions!
basketballord 03-17-2008, 10:31 PM oops, you beat me to it elroy!

ODDYSEY 03-19-2008, 04:24 PM So let me get this right. If I buy an x-charger and I am the 10th person, it will be $400 bucks off? And that is 400 bucks off the $4000k HO x?
basketballord 03-19-2008, 06:32 PM Oddysey, if you buy it, the 400 discount comes into effect. That is applicable to any of the kits that EE offers. So if you want the hi-po X kit w/o tuner, it is normally 4095. 4095 - 400 = $3695

I'm glad I'm not married lol
ODDYSEY 03-20-2008, 08:25 PM Too bad they didn't have financing :)

There is financing available, its called your personal credit card.
ODDYSEY 03-21-2008, 08:01 AM Yes but my wife can see that... :D LOL I almost talked her into it last night. I will just have to see what happens over the next 30 days. Sorry I tried!
Stang_Heritage07 03-21-2008, 09:14 AM Bump for visability.
Even though I can't afford it, I want someone to be the 10th so everyone saves some cash

xXxMUSTANGxXx 03-25-2008, 02:06 AM well looks like its gonna be me I just applied for a new credit card and they gave me 11k the only problem is I have 2 wait like a week 2 get it and at soon I get it we be all set here sounds good or what
xXxMUSTANGxXx 03-25-2008, 02:34 AM Quastion : what is the final price after discount and tax and what is in the package that we getting thx guys
blackstang14 03-25-2008, 06:40 AM I think we will get 400 dollars off any package we want to get. The Hi-PO is $4095, so it will be $3695 before taxes. I am not sure if we have to pay sales tax if we are out of state but if we do, then take about 7 percent and that will be almost 4K.
xXxMUSTANGxXx 03-25-2008, 07:41 AM the tuner comes with it in the package right
elroyjetson_1978 03-25-2008, 08:20 AM you can order the tuner with it but its 4395, 3995 after group discount. If you don't live in the same state as explorer express then you pay $0.00 in sales tax.
xXxMUSTANGxXx 03-25-2008, 09:21 AM the tuner that comes withthe packageis there tune for x-charger from bama on it and what tuner is it xcal 2 or 3
blackstang14 03-25-2008, 02:48 PM yes it comes with tunes and it can be used with either xcal 2 or 3.
xXxMUSTANGxXx 03-25-2008, 07:45 PM sorry guys i am out i run into some credit card problems

sorry guys i am out i run into some credit card problems
I was thinking something was wrong when you said your credit card was just approved and you were getting it in a week. I was approved for a credit card and it took me 2 months to get it [:@]. Damn slow credit card people. Good Luck on getting one more person for the x-charger group buy. I know it will come sooner or later, too bad it's looking later [&o]. The x-charger is such a nice system with great low-end power for the street.
moonstang 03-26-2008, 04:34 PM I've applied for credit cards on line and had a credit number I could use in 15 minutes. Technology is wonderful.
So... who else is up for an x-charger?
Maverickaf17 03-26-2008, 10:01 PM I am seriously thinking about taking that last X-Charger spot. I have the money right now, and its NOT credit.
What is swaying me big time right now is the fact that I will save $2000-$3000 against the Vortech V2-SQ Aftercooler.
What is keeping me away that little bit is.....275rwhp? kinda weak vs Vortech's 320-330rwhp.
But yeah, by tomorrow, my decision WILL be made.
kngdaka 03-26-2008, 10:06 PM ^if I had the cash I'd be in. Sounds like you do, and I'm a betting man...you're gonna pull the trigger on this and I'll be there cheering for you. Its a solid choice, I love the looks and sound
LX200 03-26-2008, 10:52 PM Consider what you want the mod for. If it's steetability and stoplight to stoplight performance, the instant on torque of the X gives great response in the most used 2000-4000 RPM range. If you want to be a track junkie, then maybe you look for a turbo. Don't get hung up on HP numbers, you only make max HP at max RPMs. It's the shape of the torque curve that really gives you the true feel of the power adder. There are ton of ricers that make 275 HP, but don't have max torque till 4500 RPM... that's too high in the RPM band to get instant head snapping fun.

I'm not a track junkie, don't plan on it. I'm a street guy who wants that big kickback when I floor it and a fast acceleration. But when I floor it, my car goes past 2000-3000rpm and usually sits between 4000-5500rpm until it hits the last gear. What does that mean?
rygenstormlocke 03-28-2008, 07:15 AM Spoke to Dave last night, the 10th order was phoned in yesterday. We have reached 10 orders!

xXxMUSTANGxXx 04-23-2008, 01:50 AM hey is there any chance I can get in for this I know its a little late but I wanna see if you guys can do something about it thx
danbevsv6rumbler 07-01-2008, 01:05 PM So..... about this supposed intercooled version coming out soon...
you think Dave would do another group buy :D???
Sancho805 07-08-2008, 12:37 PM that would be nice;).
harleystang 07-24-2008, 09:55 AM Yes it would!
08V6stang 08-09-2008, 11:50 PM ok, 1 question how much hp increase w/o tuner?
You can't run the Xcharger without a tune! This is a major engine modification and you have to tune for it.
NuclearMuscle523 08-10-2008, 07:48 AM YES, YOU DO NEED A TUNER FOR THE XCHARGER.
hunter306 08-15-2008, 12:14 PM I'd also be in on Another Group buy... I'm watching, if anyone can take the initiative I think we could fill another one up.
Any possibility?
GrayPony 08-15-2008, 02:31 PM Doubtful. Dave from EE said this past GB was the last.
07redMustang 09-22-2008, 04:53 PM I was looking at getting an x-charger at some point but I wanted to know a few things about them first. I have a 7.5 rear with 3.73 gears would I really need to up it to the 8.5 rear? I don't beat on my car I would just need it to hand a few track pulls and a little bit of abuse from time to time. Would the 7.5 be okay for this? Also what about our driveshaft I know it should be replaced but how long would it last? I don't plan to do over 110mph though which is when it usually runs into problems. Is the kit able to just be bolted on and good to go without any major upgrades right away?
afixer 09-22-2008, 08:59 PM i have over 30 k miles on my x with the 7.5 rear and stock gears. i did however replace the dif with a t-loc20 k ago. and i have a fair amount of track time
LX200 09-22-2008, 09:17 PM I always look at it this way.... you can replace your rear with an 8.8 because you are afraid it will break, which will cost you $800 now, or you can just stick with your rear and only replace it IF it breaks.
I opt to stick with my 7.5 and spend the money later if I HAVE TO. In the meantime, I will use the $800 toward an intercooler when it is available.
Besides, the Godfather has spoken. He has 30k and has had no problems, so there is no better endorsement than that.

LX200 09-30-2008, 08:16 PM Hi Tom, yup, everything is cool. My Mustang is up to 6000 miles on it (ha). Just don't spend too much time of the boards anymore. Guess you have been able to stay at home lately, huh? I have to try to get out to see Death Race... do you like how it turned out?
