lewyk -> Casting Number help... (8/24/2007 8:59:15 AM)

Been trying to find and read casting numbers to see if I really have the engine I thought I did but they don't make sence to me, I know what they should look like, here is what I have found.....

Under the carb:

83 TF 9425 CE
(sideways 2) G02165

2.8
F0142536

In front of the engine:

K 2698
74 TM 6059 AA

well what engine did you think you had? i can tell right off from that second pic its a 60 deg. V6 (2.8)

the number on the intake is the intake casting number, im not sure which number that is on the front - but your block (engine) casting number should be down on the side of the block somewhere. im not exactly sure of the location on the 2.8's

I thought it was the original V-6 and it looks like i'm right...

The engines so dirty that I can't see the block number, but I plan on cleaning it up a little this weekend.

Thanks

no problem. FYI offenhouser makes a 4bbl intake for that motor, would be nice with a little holley 390 4bbl on there. better gas milage if your driving easy and more balls when you romp on it [8D]

I'll write that down ;)

FYI, they are a pain in the ass to find cause nobody carries offy stuff and thats an oddball piece, but racerwalsh carries 2.8 goodies - so thats your first stop most likely. come to think of it, P.A.W. carries them too, but you have to have a catalog which is like 10 bucks to be able to find it there (their website fails, but the catalog is thick like a city phone book so its worth it).

Thanks for the great tips, I just ordered catalogs from them both ;)
