Default Is my 351 worth it?

I have a complete 351 out of a 74 or 75 LTD and a new set of Trick Flow heads. Is it worth it to convert this block to a 408 roller to put in my 1993 45K mile stang or should I just buy a 302 based shortblock and call it a day. I was hoping to get 375-400 at the wheels n/a.

The more I look into it the more I feel it would not be worth messing with this 351.

I was planning on doing a 351 in my cobra.. but with a full rotating assembly, machine work etc.... it was alsmost $2000 cheaper to put a 302 based stroker in

If the 351 is too pricey to stroke, i would still rather have the 70's 351 than a stroked 302. 351>347 and the 351 block will be stronger. Just bore the 351 .030 over and you have a 357.

a similarly built 347 will make just as much power as a 351, and its lighter to boot...

you may be able to take me in a straight line... but your ****ED at the first turn

I agree with being screwed at first turn. I have a spool and drag suspension.

A 408ci motor will get you into the 350-400hp mark with not a lot of modifications, anyone running one would know that. I think for the potential a 351w foundation offers you cannot argue that in the long run it is the way to go. I have driven a ton of reliable Windsor motors that a 347 couldn't imagine catching.

You can build them on the cheap too with quality parts, you just need to know eher to shop and who to talk to about building them or you can get hosed.

I would be more than happy to point you to who I have bought all my parts from in the past.

Thanks for the reply's. I will have to make my mind up soon. I've had my TF heads in the basement for a year now.

If I decide to do a 408 I will definatley give you a holler Madman.

Either way I will probably have my neighbor build it and install it. He used to race alot (Jason Fields) if anybody knows of him.
