his opinions on cars is one thing, but like i said, if you go to any other forum, or the forum which i suspect you spend most of your time, even their admins will agree that if one moderator spends so much effort in talking down to other moderators, he wont be on the staff for long.

again, we cannot make everyone happy, all of the time, and at times, we are forced to make decisions that we know will better the forum in the long run, although some people will disagree.  many of our 75,000+ members would say that the staff here does a fine job of keeping this forum fairly civil, and i appreciate those who have PMed me with the compliments tonight.  On the other hand, you dont care for how this forum is run, and you dont care for the staff, and i apologize for that, but there isnt much else I can do about it.  I do know that this forum is much smoother, much more informative, and much friendlier than it was before I became heavily involved, thanks to our many helpful members, and thanks to the dedicated staff, who typically keeps their personal issues with each other behind closed doors.

I can see why you have that point of view.  Most groups that have power have a common mentality (I am sure there is disagreements on subjects, but overall, you guys have the power so you must be right) and when one person strays or gets out of line, everyone stands with the group, wither the group is right or wrong.  Like I have said, maybe Glen has been right all along, and you guys just can't see it.

matt,

maybe i can say who the next president of the US should be, even though everyone else wouldnt agree with me...but when a group works as well together as the mod group here does, when one person is CONSTANTLY getting into "fights" with other moderators, something has to be done about it.

again, he wasnt banned, just removed from the mod group.  he could have just as easily answered questions as a member.

Also, I would like to point out that he wasnt banned, he was removed as a moderator, and thats all.  Being a "regular member" doesnt make him any less capable of sharing his knowledge, but he decided that he would not continue to share his information unless he was a moderator, and that was out of the question with the recent activites.

hey my77stang - can you make the above quote font size 50?

for the love of all things mustang -   pay attention.  So he got his "powers" removed, why would he or anyone else care?  What friggin' difference does that make?  NONE - if he wants to keep posting, HE CAN KEEP POSTING.... but he lost his mod "powers" and now he has self exiled - sad thats the reaction.   Yes, he was extremely knowledgeable - but to what effect if that knowledge seemed always to come w/ a jab attached?

A moderator doesnt even have to know a damn thing about the topics - as JamesW (or someone 72 pages ago) posted - mod's are just street cops, and as a street cop they are held to a higher standard.   They watch out for spamming, personal attacks, threads in the wrong section, etc.    In fact it'd be better to not have the most knowledgeable members as the mods ... why take away from their expertise by having them referee the internet gangs?

let it go.......  you'd think he'd be happy to be a 'civilian' again, able to post whatever the he*l he wanted to.     its just the internet, its all just tubes anyway........

Matt, the flaw in your logic is that Glen WAS part of our group.

I started to type out a comment on Glen, but I don't wanna badmouth him.  He no longer has Mod powers - that's it.  He could still be a contributing member here if he choses to do so...

Well,,   Glen, I appreciate all of what you have put into this section of the forum.  You've helped me out numerous times, and I have learned to live with your views on keeping mustangs original (mainly because I didnt care, it was your oppinion)..  Anyway,  I really hope you stick around this forum, the board may not be the same without..   Thanks.

Soaring, Glen, Papa of ol Yeller - please continue to chime in on issues. Your knowledge base is awesome - please continue to share it with those of us in earnest search for classic mustang answers.

I detested your respect for Rush Limbaugh... but respect YOUR opinion to like him and respected you mustang opinions immensely. And that is what makes us American - the freedom to express our opinions whether others like them or not. Some of us have learned a lot from you and really appreciate it.

That does not mean we dislike the restomodders. It just means we liked and learned from you and do not want you to leave us.

I always liked Soaring, but if he leaves over the fact that he can't/won't be a moderator, then I won't miss him.

I mean if he was here because he loved mustangs (which is what I really think is the case) then he should be happy to stay with us whether he is a mod or not.  But if he was just here for the power/control/ect then I could care less if he decides to throw a fit and go elsewhere.

I want to let you know you never pissed me off. I always felt it was one of those situations where we agreed to disagree. What makes these forums so valuable is the different opinions generated by a diverse crowd. This insures all the pros and cons of the issue are fully explored.

You help me with many problems and  I am very grateful for your expertise I  sincerely hope you stay with us as a member.  I never felt any animosity towards your opinions  as they often led to constructive debate over the issue (what more could the person asking the question want)

best of luck

Nick

Thanks for your efforts Glen. It's too bad your opinions and views were so drastic. I'm sure your knowledge and insight to the classic community will be missed.

That is what America is all about today, suppression of "drastic views", don't have any of your own do you?

too bad you never got to see the REAL glenn in the mod room

We got to know him in this section and appreciate him, minus a few ***holes that don't. The real Glen in here is fine by me. this a forum for discussion not for politics... and politics are what this has become.

I like the way this thread was setup like you moderators actually care.

glenn started this thread knowing full well his nut swingers would bad mouth and trash talk the mods and admins, and back him up to stay. glenn's going to wake up tomorrow, open his windows, and see there's a whole new world out there.

Dude, stop taking yourself too seriously, lol, this is a bloody internet site.

Glenn will wake up tomorrow, brush his teeth, take a dump, wipe himself, flush the toilet, wash his hands, have some fried eggs and bacon with black coffee, read his newspaper, and give two flying F's about you or anybody else in here, lol.

Glenn, I already miss you buddy, just come back as a regular poster, no more headaches from childish fellow moderators like this dude.

All i know .. is glen was a good figure in these forums and i hope he sticks around ..

Seeing as he helped "Raise" some of the younger members on this forum with knowledge.

I personally dont see how Opinions can be regulateed considering that is why it is known as an opinion.

But ehh what can ya do really ? , WE WANT GLEN! WE WANT GLEN!!! ... hahha lol ..

-Ariel

again, his opinions had nothing to do with the admins decision to remove his moderator powers.

so what you are saying is that Glen is worse than this:

http://www.mustangforums.com/m_3746066/tm.htm

Like I said, double standard at its finest. Redass will go on and on about someone being a cock rag or somethign or other, but because he is a moderator and one of the favorites, it will get over looked.

I do agree with you that Glen's opinions probably had nothing to do with all of this, but too bad the opinions of all the other moderators did.

Someone started a thread called "why redass is a dick". if someone started a thread like that about any moderator, or any member for that matter, I wouldnt care one bit what that person said. I dont feel that particular example applies here. We arent talking about people calling out glen and him defending himself, we are talking about glen making inappropriate comments about moderators on the open forums, then the comments getting even worse in PMs and the mod room.

Why don't you edit some of nano nano, nuke, nagasaki, nanaki, or whatever he's username is...for his colorful comments?

Man, that dude is too volatile to be moderating in here.

I  have read EVERY post in this thread...

Glen I don't know if you are following along here are not, but even though you and I didn't see eye to eye on some topics, you were willing to share you knowledge to us. And for that Thanks
Even though it has been said this is not about your opinions about 'restro Mustangs' you and I had a few PM regarding how I felt you should have 'eased up a bit' or what ever when talking about someones car that didn't meet your 'status' of a classic.

I too hope you will be willing to turn the other cheek and be a 'bigger' man and continue to show us your passion to our cars. Besides I still want to send you a personal pic of my 69 Mustang sitting on my 79 Blazer frame w/ the name SOARING on it when it is done. I haven't decided if I want to paint it BOSS theme or Camaro ralley stripe!  lol (just trying to lighten the mood... no hate mail please)

When you cool off, hopefully you may realize that in the big motion picture of life.... this is but a single frame!

And with that, for the love of God, can we close this topic.
Its now completely up to Glen what he does. He can go hang out at vintage mustang forums, any other forum or here. At the end of the day, he will do what he wants as he always had so please lets just get on with mustanging.

Fair enough.  I'll make this short.

The thought of losing a staunch defender of maintaining a greater amount of originality rather than less is disappointing.  Less balance in the col lective response to any given question is not necessarily a good thing.  What the general membership will likely see is that the cost of the forum being less confrontational for some is that it will likely be less informative for others.  So I hope that Glen drops by from time to time after the dust settles a bit.  That I place far fewer limits on the acceptability of any given modification than Glen has everything to do with it.

Just as an observation, but public comments like
quote:

hahaha!  you'll have to be more specific.  i'm an asshole to a lot of people.  you sound just as old and senile as glenn.  you all need to quit taking it like your wife just left you for another man.  it's a forum.

are as out of line as the remarks that Glen is alleged to have made in the mod room, which would have been made to a very limited audience.  Makes it easy to think that some of Glen's comments might have been provoked.  I wonder if Glen was more abrasive than that or less back about, say, . . . 1970?

Norm

wondering why the word . . . c o l l e c t i v e . . . . doesn't pass the censor???

Of course I have no knowledge of what has happened in the mod room, but making those private sort of conversations known to the entire world was certainly a wrong thing to do.  Ride of the Month made several statements that were threatening in nature about shutting down this thread.  Those sort of power strokes are not appreciated by an audience that comes here voluntarily.  Except for the comment about JamesW, I have not read any other comment directed against any other mod or administrator.  If I remember correctly, JamesW was chosen by the admin to help Glen mod the classic section, and was not chosen by Glen.  If that is correct, then I would feel the same as Glen regarding the appointment of JamesW.  If that is why he was demoted, then it was not publicy known that he called all the other mods worthless.
Glen, I will miss you not only because you have a wealth of knowledge about classic Mustangs, but because you have a real personality, not one that is pasted on.   You are your own man, and one whom I can respect.  God bless.
