I like the way this thread was setup like you moderators actually care.

What makes you think we don't care? I'm extremely disappointed that it had to come to this. It didn't have to, Glen made the choice by refusing to cooperate. He was given the choice to follow the rules to moderate by, or step down. Apparently he can't follow the same rule that 27 other moderators seem to have no problem with.

Keep in mind, Glen has not been banned, he has only had the ability to edit and remove threads and posts disabled. Everything else is the same.

I should not have rolled all the mods into one statement because that makes it false there are just a few i can't stand.... but that is just me.... hey i am sure some people can't stand me

All i know .. is glen was a good figure in these forums and i hope he sticks around ..

Seeing as he helped "Raise" some of the younger members on this forum with knowledge.

I personally dont see how Opinions can be regulateed considering that is why it is known as an opinion.

But ehh what can ya do really ? , WE WANT GLEN! WE WANT GLEN!!! ... hahha lol ..

-Ariel

again, his opinions had nothing to do with the admins decision to remove his moderator powers.

so what you are saying is that Glen is worse than this:

http://www.mustangforums.com/m_3746066/tm.htm

Like I said, double standard at its finest.  Redass will go on and on about someone being a cock rag or somethign or other, but because he is a moderator and one of the favorites, it will get over looked.

I do agree with you that Glen's opinions probably had nothing to do with all of this, but too bad the opinions of all the other moderators did.

Someone started a thread called "why redass is a dick".  if someone started a thread like that about any moderator, or any member for that matter, I wouldnt care one bit what that person said.  I dont feel that particular example applies here.  We arent talking about people calling out glen and him defending himself, we are talking about glen making inappropriate comments about moderators on the open forums, then the comments getting even worse in PMs and the mod room.

you are right, redass NEVER makes inappropriate comments about other forum members.  I might appear to be new sir, but I have been around for quite some time.  I have witnessed it and been a victim of it.

You said this is not about Glen's opinions, but it is.  You see, his comments, whatever they were, were his opinions on other memebers/moderators of the forums.  We all have them.  Some people are given the right to air those opinions, other are banned from the web site.

I am still trying to figure out why I was banned because I questioned someones Avitar that showed a smiley masturbating and then having an orgasm.....oh yea, that is right, I do know the answer....favorites.

believe me, not all of the moderators get along.  there are regular "fights" in the moderators room. However, to keep a site of this size running smoothly as a whole, we need to work together at some level, and glen refused to do so.

redass has the miserable task of moderating the off topic section, and when he crosses the line, he is spoken to about it.  when he is told that he has crossed the line, he then avoids said line, but when glen was spoken to about crossing the line, he would continue to push the issue.

also, if you were banned, im sure that it wasnt for something as simple as complaining about someones avatar.  if you were banned several times, you were obviously breaking a rule, if not more than one.  if you feel that you were wrongly banned, Im willing to hear your side of the story.  there are many members who have been removed, who are currently here operating under new usernames, and so long as they abide by the rules, they will stay here.

I don't know what else to say here other than. If this forum was a meat world corporation, would Glen have been given this much slack? I say this because this place IS a business and as such needs to run as smooth as possible. Was Glen knowledgeable about classic Mustangs? Absolutely without a doubt, and that is the reason that he was kept around for as long as he was. In the end he was asked to back off a bit on how he was acting and he chose not to, he knew what the outcome of all this would be and still decided to act the way he did. I would like to to re-iterate that this IS NOT about Glens opinions on resto-mods, but about him not being a team player (or even trying to be). You will see a few new faces in the classic section in the coming weeks while we try and find a replacement for Glen, we are not here to pass judgement or change the way things are run here, just to police the section for spam and to move threads that do not belong etc. We will help out on tech questions if we know the answer, but we really need our classic members to help each other out in that dept. I wish no ill towards Glen and hope that stays on as a member.
Thanks for reading this.
JD

someone should lock this thing up.  What's been said has been said - people are fighting, and it's not going to stop.    People can speculate all day about what happened, and why he was removed (heck, the mods have told us 20 times, just read) but it doesn't change the fact.

Glen, if you're still here reading this, you'll see that most of the people here really appreciate your incredible knowledge of these cars. We would like if you would stay.

I want to apologize for any derogatory statements, or accusations that I have made about anyone in this thread. I was totally out of line in doing this.

I am still disappointed about Glen leaving, however this in no way gave me reason or cause to say many of the things I said...

In specific I owe apologies to James W. and most of the administrators and moderators who have posted on this thread.

I have not come to the point where I am ready to apologize to Nanaki yet because,,, well anyway,,, I will post on street/strip later,, that will make JMD = 3  Nanniaki = 0...

In any case, I offer my sincere apologies to anyone (else) who I may have offended in this thread.

a few people have made the comment here, and via PM, and I wanted to explain to everyone why this thread has remained open.

the point of this thread was for glen to announce that he was leaving the site, and sadly it turned into a great deal of bickering.

however, i do not want to seem like i am doing away with, or locking to censor the views of the members, however, with the way that it is heading, i am getting complaints about it, and it will only remain open while people are civil...

thank you.

I am over it.  I have my opinion about this site and it will not change.  Coming and posting on this site is basically a last resort for me.  Like I said, I have been around for a while and just got back around to getting a new screen name, and you can see how often I post with it.  I don't enjoy perusing this site because of stuff like this.  This is the same thing that happened in the 4.0 section, wither you see it that way or not.  You mods might think you are doing this for the site, but in reality, you are not.  These forums are a ways and means for people to obtain technical knowledge and share their own knowledge and experiences with those that share a common interest or problem.  Who cares about the way that knowlege is conveyed.  Too many people with their panties in a wad these days.  If you are put off by someone, ignore their comments...others might like that person and think they are helpfull.  Sounds like in this case, this forum just lost a very valuable resource.

Im not disputing that we lost an incredibly knowledgable member, but no matter what forum you go to, anywhere..no matter what vehicle or vehicles it pertains to, if you have one mod who spends his time telling the rest of the mods that they are worthless pieces of trash, hes not going to be a mod for very long.

Also, I would like to point out that he wasnt banned, he was removed as a moderator, and thats all.  Being a "regular member" doesnt make him any less capable of sharing his knowledge, but he decided that he would not continue to share his information unless he was a moderator, and that was out of the question with the recent activites.

no offense to you sir because I don't really think I had a run in with you (if I did, I don't remember), but who is to say that he isn't right?  I think I know a few people that would concur with his sentiments.

and of course, those are just opinions, to which you say none of this is about.  So he was either removed for his opinions, or what he said is true.

his opinions on cars is one thing, but like i said, if you go to any other forum, or the forum which i suspect you spend most of your time, even their admins will agree that if one moderator spends so much effort in talking down to other moderators, he wont be on the staff for long.

again, we cannot make everyone happy, all of the time, and at times, we are forced to make decisions that we know will better the forum in the long run, although some people will disagree.  many of our 75,000+ members would say that the staff here does a fine job of keeping this forum fairly civil, and i appreciate those who have PMed me with the compliments tonight.  On the other hand, you dont care for how this forum is run, and you dont care for the staff, and i apologize for that, but there isnt much else I can do about it.  I do know that this forum is much smoother, much more informative, and much friendlier than it was before I became heavily involved, thanks to our many helpful members, and thanks to the dedicated staff, who typically keeps their personal issues with each other behind closed doors.
