Well, I definitely hope you find good luck with your car. I know I am new to the site, but you have to look at it for what it is . . . . a machine. With all the intricate parts, it is bound to have something happen. I have a friend who has a 2007 Ford F-150 who finally got an okay from his attorney to go for the "Lemon Law". How is it that a brand new car can have issues? Stay positive and know that you are not the only one. Also, what are the difficulty and risk levels for upgrading to a 5.0L versus the V6? What kind of cost are you looking at? I have a 1996 V6 and may look into the upgrade myself. Stay up!

itll be hella difficult thats for sure, id have to rely on my dad for alot of help but the mod potential for a 5.0 is way greater than the 3.8 that and you get way more out of the box power around $1500-$2000 since youve got a 96 that had the modular v8 in it, it would probably be easier to go to a 4.6 the 94&95 had 5.0's

What I would do is stop putting money into your current vehicle unless it is absolutely necessary to make it run or to prevent a hazard, and instead save up that money to put toward getting another car. The tranny fix was necessary. The brake job was not. See my logic. Save up some money for a year. Then sell your current car. Used the combined money to get a better car. Or, I'm not sure how old you are but I'm pretty sure if you're 18 or over and you've been at your job for at least a year, you can take out a car loan on your own. If not, you can always get your parents to co-sign. So that's another option. And you can still sell your current car to help payoff the loan.

Well, a lot of people in hell would like a popcicle, as well. lol. A Mach 1 might be a bit expensive. I'd say, save up for a year. By that time, you'll be 18 and you should be able to take out a car loan on your own. Sell your current car. Combine the money for a down payment on a GT and make up the difference with the loan.
