Default '89 5.0HO to '74 302

Question for anyone listening: I have a 1989 LX 5.0HO with about 300,000miles on the original lower end. Heads were reworked ie: ported, bowls blended, top end has been converted to carburetor set-up.
You should know this motor despite the miles, does not smoke and still has the FACTORY cross-hatch in the cylinder walls. Now on to my question. I have a '74 302 block out of my first mustang, a '67, with roughly 30,000 miles on it, it is obviously not a roller motor. What would i have to do to convert it to a roller motor and is there any potential power differences b/w the two. Does this sound like a good swap or should i just bite the "bullitt" pull my original motor and rebuild it? I am also thinking of swapping my weak T-5 for a C-4. Pull No Punches Let Me Have It!! Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Im pretty sure the 74 block will be alot stonger then the newer one.Newer blocks can only handle up about 375-450rwhp then u run the rish of cracking the block.

your gonna need a $479 set of conversion lifters..

if your doing a rebuild, why not a stroker... if your gonna do a stoker.. why not get one from www.fordstrokers.com

just curious adder, why do you always recommend fordstrokers and not fullauto? is there some bad blood im just not aware of?

[&:]

but yeah with the prices and durability of 331 and 347's these days, its about the same price to buy a rotating assembly as it is to regrind the crank, buy decent pistons and rings, and replace or remachine the rods with better bolts.

if someone wants a stroker kit... FA is a good choice... but also remember that the majority of this forum cant even install an intake manifold, nevermind build an engine... so i recommend fordstrokers.com so they can just buy a shortblock

For those of us that do build motors however...

build your own kit with a setup like....

Eagle Crank, Scat Rods, and Probe Pistons, Clevitte Bearings, Moroso 7qt pan, HV pump, blanced and blue printed knife edged motor, RHS 205 heads, 1.6RR and a comp cams XFI cam.
