ok i got a carbon fiber 3" cowl hood for free. I've never owned anything carbon fiber,but i thought it was supposed to be shiny. this hood is dull,so i'm wondering what i can do to restore it's luster. can you wetsand it then polish? or is there some method of cleaning it?the hood is getting painted to match my car soon,but till then i want it to look decent.

there should be a gel coat on it

im pretty sure you treat it just like a clear, but not 100% sure

Sand ita little with very FINE paper then clear coat.

Do you need more details or are you fine with the basics?

it's got the gel coat on it (seems pretty thick too). i guess i'll try wetsanding it with ~1500 grit this weekend.
