I'm having this gauge installed by a local shop. They had my car all day and they still aren't done with it. Does anyone else have this gauge? Is it really that time consuming? I had them install my boost gauge and did such a good job I took it back to have them install this one. The air/fuel gauge must have more to wire up.

Well if your boost gauge is mechanical then there shouldn't be anything to wire up except the light.
The air/fuel ratio gauges are wired to an O2 sensor before the cats. It shouldn't take all day IMO, i bet they ran longer than expect on other jobs and didn't get to it today.

Doesn't the sensor, that comes with these air/fuel gauges, replace the stock O2 sensor before the cats? I assumed that is the way it works or do you actually have to weld something to the exhaust manifold to install it?

It has it's own Bosch sensor.
Wideband

The wide bands get there own sensor. It'll take a muffler shop about 2 minutes to weld in an o2 bung and shouldn't take more then an hour to do the wiring. They must be backed up. Hopfully.
The wid band sensors compared to a regular A/F gauge are just really more accurate. A normal A/F gauge will still do it's function but with a wideband you can get the actuall reading, i.e. 11.4.
I got a regular A/F gauge in a nitrous car and it did it's job when an injector went out. Pegged lean so we let off. The $60 gauge saved the motor.
