One of my buddies has a 2006 Evo VIII with full turbo-backed exhaust...we were curious to see how our rides would match up from about 20-100 (on a safe road of course)...anyone have any idea of the results assuming equal drivers? It has been raining the last three days so we are waiting until the weather permits safe conditions
I had a guy with an Evo in my neighborhood that has an alcohol injection system and a bunch of other stuff. He's runninghigh 11's. You can heavily mod an evo and get them running into the 9's at the track!
Note that the Top Gear video you reference uses the "Fq400", Britain-only version of the Evo, with 400HP. Stock Evos here have 286HP. Of course it is pretty easy, as others have noted, to bump an Evo up to 400 streetable horsepower.
Since I have both-- a '06 Evo IX and an '07 S281SC-- I can offer a relatively informed opinion: the Evo _feels_ faster. The Saleen _is_ faster. 0-60 they're neck and neck; the Saleen will start to pull away afterwards.
The Evo would probably win on a tight racetrack-- four wheel drive and obscenely sticky stock tires and 800 or so pounds less weight all work to its advantage.

I told him were not racing from a dig, because that would just be unfair, but from a 20 and 30 roll, it will be a better race. I figure, with all wheel drive, he loses at least 20% HP to the wheels. So I guestimate he has around 286+35= roughly 320 BHP....-65= 255whp in a 3250lb car....
Evo IX= 12.74 lbs/whp
Saleen= 12.33 lbs/rwhp............3700/300rwhp
I think I have a slight advantage but we will see...

I'd like to say you will win, but I have my doubts. If you can go to the track with him. That way all you have to do is worry about him without any other distractions.
