Default Almighty LS1?

My friend has a 1998 Camaro Z28 with 120,000 miles on it.With long tubes, cut out and a lid and on Eagle F1s his best time was a 13.0 at 108mph with a 1.9 60'. He just got his car back from Speed Inc, and he got their mid size cam that they offer, a 3600 stall converter, a smaller crank pulley and a dyno tune. Im not positive on his exact numbers but i think he dynoed around 390rwhp. But he went to the track today and his best time was a 12.9 at 109 with a 2.0 60' on the same tires. Now i thought that a Bolt On, tuned and camed LS1 would run waaaay better than that, so what gives GM guys?

If he is at 390 WHP he added at least 50ish WHP to his old numbers, it should be improving more than that.

However, as my own experence has shown, there are more than a few numbers tossed around as "the standard" in street/strip that are a bit, shall we say, optmistic. My buddies full exhaust/lid/d/r LS1 has yet to break 13.30s.

i would say he should be running way better than that, having said that there are a lot of factors that may have had him running slower than he supposed such as heat, 120 k miles on the engine, etc.

The weather today was mid 70s i think and not very humid at all so weather didnt play a huge roll.

That all around just doesn't make much sense...he gained 50+rwhp and only added 1 mph on his trap. Did he let off for some reason?I'd expect his times to improve when he gets used to a stalled auto making 390rwhp but his traps kinda bother me. That's like you gaining 50+ at the wheels in your GTand only running a 101 trap.

What specs is his cam?

Yeah, stock his LS1 is already 13.0-13.3. LS1's with just LT's are in high 12's, so it's the Driver or Car's screwed up somewhere.

The numbers definatly do not add up, but remember that s high stsll will cost you mph at the big end of the track. I lost 2-3 mph with my 4000 Yank. What rear gear is he running? Also the 98 was the slowest year and the ECU is a real pain to tune. I put down 370 somthing rwhp on a Mustang dyno and manage high 11's at 113 at the same track you guys run at (I assume Byron) granted I have dr's. Of course 2000GT won't beleive my numbers and will call them optimisticbut I could really care less. His car should be low 12's with a sub 1.8 60 foot and trap at least 113 mph. He sould call the guys at Speec Inc and ask what they think since they did the work on the car.

I thank something is a miss... I had a 99 Z with the typical bolt ons....Dynatech full lengths, Random Technolgy cat back, Whisper cold air lid, 3600 triple disc Vigilante convertor, 3.73 with Aubrun Pro diff, Maf Translator, SLP udp, GMS mass air meter set up for a wet -nitrous set up, Random Technoldy high flow cats that I heli-arced into the Dynatech Y-pipe, Random Technolgy adjustable torque arm along with adjustable lower control arms.. The torque arm was set-up at -4 degree pinion angle... Bone stock on a Dynojet I laid down 297 rwhp with the mentioned bolt ons laid down 343 rwhp and on a 150 shot spiked too 472 rwhp if only for s second.. My best motor pass was 12.09 at 112 with a 1.62 60ft on ET Street and a 10.92 with a 1.55 60ft on the 150 shot... Completely stock with 2.73's I pulled a 13.23 at 105.7 at MAR...
