I just bought some after market motor mounts and it says that I need the frame brackets from a 66-70 if I have a late model. How can I tell if my 65 is an early model or late?? (late is post 10/31/65)

The problem with the 65's is that it was the first year for the Mustangs, and Ford decided to come out with the model in April of 64, which is very early for a car to come out with for the following year sales. Anyway, those early 65's are generally referred to as 64 1/2 Mustangs. Then in August of 1964, Ford made some changes that make the early Mustangs and the later Mustangs different. The most notable difference is going from a generator to an alternator, but there are a lot of other differences too. Check the FAQ section for all those small differences.
However, the motor mounts for your 65 should be good throughout all the 65 models. It was not until the 66 models that the motor mounts were changed. What Jim is referring to is that in November of 1965, the 1966 models started getting a different motor mount. If yours is a 1965 model, then you just order motor mounts for a 1965.
