Mini Tonneau Cover question - 8/17/2007 12:00:02 PM

I can't decide on whether to buy a boot for my '03 convertible or the mini tonneau cover. The boot doesn't give the neatest appearance and I've heard it's hard to install plus nearly impossible to get the wrinkles out of the vinyl. So I was thinking about the mini tonneau that also covers the backseat. Hence my questions for anyone who actually has one of these:
1. Does it cover the rear speakers?
2. How does it install?
According to advertising, there are 6 snaps that need to be drilled. Where do they drill into? Can they be seen with the cover off? Can I do this myself? I'm not much of a handy person. Are there any other pieces to be installed?
3. Will a black cover look stupid covering my beige interior?
4. Can it really be taken on or off in less than a minute?

My local Ford Dealer doesn't have any info on this part - just a diagram, so I'm coming here to the experts!! If only I'd ask the folks at the shows where I've seen these installed! Duh!!

I have the factory boot on my '85 GT Vert and have no troubles with wrinkles in the vinyl material   Looks a ton better than a naked, folded up top header/frame.

My boot for my '99 is a hard vinyl hence no wrinkles.  It goes in place in seconds and much easier then my '88, although I love the look of the tonneus so if your like that look I'd go that route.  Cant say much about the rest of your questions I dont have one yet!

Are you talking about the soft tonneau cover?? If so, it is a simple install or remove. It uses 6 snap screws in the back. You do not have to drill any new holes.....just remove the factory screws and put in the new snap screws.
