It cost more to make it a V8 than to just buy a GT, that's why. Nearly everything has to be changed. To put it simply, the only thing the V6 and the V8 has in common is the frame and the basic body, nearly everything else is either totally different, or modified for one application or the other.

jt is right you have to swap stuff like the k member, springs, sway bars, tranny, motor, ecu, wiring harness and the list goes on and on. your best bet to get mre power to beat a v8 is nos, supercharger, or like me do a custom turbo set up

What about the 4.2 liter engine? Would that be a hard swap?

i might be mistakin but i think it would be cheaper and easyer just to stroke your 3.8 out to a 4.2 or even a 4.3. over swaping in te motor from a f150. now like your car sits you can use the upper intake from the 4.2 it will swap right on i cant remeber if you will need the throttle body or not
