Default where to start?

I have a 1986 mustang 5.0 GT hatchback. Its bone stock except for air silencer is removed. Where should i start do you think on starting to beef up the engine? I have mac shorty headers for it but have not put them on yet. Any ideas?+

As far as engine work itself theire isnt much youcan do unless its been converted to mass air. Until then exhaust / gears / ignition timing would be where I would start.

I would just start a build up on an new engine...and only put on car that can be transfered to the other engine.
put in some gears 3.55's pulleys, intake, exhuast, shifter(pro 5.0)

It depends on what you want and how much you can spend. I wouls start with maintainence. Replace some of those worn suspension components, theyre prolly worn after almost 20 years of service.
