Default Tranny problems?

The best time of year for me to have more car problems....the time of year that i have no money to spend on fixing it....

Anywho, yesterday was when i first noticed this problem. When i drive in 1st or 2nd gear and go over about...1500 RPMs the car seems to lock up and make a bunch of stuttering/sputtering noises. Although, once i get into third (and above 45mph) i can floor it and not have any problems. Furthermore, today i was having even more problems with this, as it seems that if i go above 1000RPMs the car will begin to sputter. I'm thinking im having a problem with the tranny seeing as how i cannot accelerate normally.

it might not be ur tranny. what all do u have? also, what do u meen by sputtering? the engine (like it's not getting enough gas), or the xmission gearing?

Well i thought it was a tranny problem because it was only sputtering at lower gears and when i would give it more gas/higher RPMs....but in 3rd gear, no matter how much gas i put down it went fine. It only sputters in 1st and 2nd.

and what i mean by sputters is that when i push down on the gas more than a quarter of the way, the car sorta starts to like "lock-up" and shake...rattle..sputter, whatever you wannc all it.

i wonder if ur linkage is not adjusted or maybe damaged. hmmmm. check ur xmission fluid also. look for small metal shavings or metal "sand". smell it to see if it smells burned. is it a rich pink-red, or more of a brown. these arn't always signs of a failure, but might be a quick answer for ya if u see any of these. is ur's a C-4 tranny? if so, then u r in luck! if u can pull it urself, then u can have it rebuilt for maybe 300-400 bucks. that's way cheap.

Your engine sputtering has absolutely nothing to do with your transmission. Put on a new or rebuilt carburetor, and get the engine tuned.
