Anyone know of a reason not to blend 100 octane (automobile) gas with lower octane rated gas to obtain the equivalent 91 or 93 gas? And if blending is ok what would the proper recepies look like?
I can only get 91 octane gasoline where I live but I'd like to use 93 octane gas tunes.
Isn't "extra" octane wasted octane? That is, beyond what a tune requires to prevent predetonation (93 tune), higher octane doesn't add performance, right?

If you mix 1 gallon of 91 to 1 gallon of 100 will give you 95.5 octane. I mix when i go to the track and run my 93 Track only tune. Runs sweet!
The 100 octane gasoline I refer to is produced by Sunoco and is formulated without lead but with detergents and such to be used in "regular" vehicles. Sets you back about $5.80 a gallon.
