Default Wheels, Tires

I have newly purchased a 1970 mustang (for a helluva price I might add). Unfortunately this "project" car has mismatched wheels/tires. The motor that I have in it should (I know that is a relative word) put about 600hp to the wheels. The problem that I will have is getting the rubber to actually grab the blacktop. What is the largest wheel and tire that I can use on the car? Before anyone suggests it, I don't want to have it tubbed because I would like to be able to drive this on the street periodically.

ANY information is greatly appreciated.

If you can't wait, try doing a search...I currently have 265/45/16s on the rear with a wear rating of 50. They are pretty sticky.
How about some details about your 600hp motor? Which tranny and rear do you have?

Yeah, well I got a job that isn't virtual these days so I am not around quite as much.

Click on the 69-70 chart on this page: http://www.dodgestang.com/mustang.htm I also think I read this same exact post over on the VMF

4.56 Gear

I'm gonna need something wide and sticky so any help other than the link (that I haven't checked out yet) will be greatly greatly appreciated...

BTW, anyone here live in the Houston area? Would like to meet up with some people that have more experience with these cars... My area is forced induction AWD 4-bangers... oh so different.

You could narrow your rear axle housing a bit to squeeze more meat in...
