Default Best CA legal exaust for a 96

Im looking for a good catback/x pipe combo. My friend had a bassani catted x pipe and a magnaflow catback on his, but he never really opened it up for me. How much hp can i expect from these mods?

Well if you go on the basis of the topic your not even in the right ballpark. No exhaust is legal in CA. Any exhaust not OEM approved could get you fined and not allow you to get a sticker.

If you want to see the best gains. run long tubes, (this could be up for debate) catted x-pipe, and bassani or magnaflow system. You shoud see in the neiborhood of 20rwhp.

Know as far as the debate is concerned. A catted x pipe:

1. is more legal than a non-catted system

2. You sacrifice HP(which is actually meaning less) for torque(what is really important)

3. eliminates alot of raspiness associated with non catted systems.

4. Provide the best scavaging effects compared to an h-pipe

BTW the above setup will be LOUD. Mustangs only get louder the more you let it breath.

No debate with longtubes, anyone that actually runs longtubes knows the difference they make, including myself. If you wanna stay legal you need to be sure there is a carb # on any part you replace, which I dont think there is on any exhaust that I know of... damn its gotta suck to be in CA
