Ok, so i said id keep you all updated and after my dream of owning a 2nd gen camaro fading away due to insurance rates and what not i began looking for newer Z28s and the occasional GT. BUT to my amazement, just the week before i turn 18 and can own a car legally by myself... my friend puts his 1995 GT 5.0L on the market and i said id give him 3700 and he said ok. its auto, red, 80K on it, he got in a small fender bender (i saw the damage, not that bad) and his bags deployed, but he had it all fixed. Hes got new brake pads and is getting new rotors. BUT on the other hand ive got a 1994 LT1 Z28 Camaro with 275 horses.. its about the same as my friends Mustang. The Camaro is 4000 (which is basically almost my limit so i can afford both). However it has 125K on it, its got a reliable 350 tho that can stand up to higher mileage. Only problem was the grandma who owned it had the oil changed and when they went to put new fluid in they didnt bleed something right and it blew a head gasket.. but the daughter of the old lady had it repaired and rebuilt and its up and running.. I told the owner of the Camaro id check it out 2morrow and i told my friend id call him next week if the camaro doesnt work. Ok, so I know i ask for opinions and get pissed off when they dont agree with mine, but im over that honestly... so what are your opinions? 275 horse Z28 or the 215 horse GT. Honestly horses dont matter to me as much as the rumble the exhaust is gonna make (yeah i know that sounds funny) but i love the way my dads Flowmasters bring out his Nissan Titans 5.6L. Now the Camaro uses that messed up exhuast design where you cant get true dual and they have a Ypipped Dual tailpipe one muffler deal.. where as the mustang has a nice design that i can just go true dual with.. BUT the Camaros engine is beefer compared to the GT. I looked up insurance and for both it will cost 160-168 bucks a month (which i can afford with money to spare for gas about 300 a month left over). Heres the Camaro: And you all know what a Red GT SN95 looks like.

The Mustang is better looking, and will sound better.

Just get what you like better. Which car has more of what you want? The Mustang has looks and sound. The Camaro has power. Decide based on whichever is more important to you. You can't rely in us to make all your decisions for you. Life's not a Meineke commercial.

OK, I'll put it to you like this and you decide, because both will have their ups and downs, so I'd pick the one that's best overall. Camaro- gets slightly better mpg, faster out of the box, decently stylish exterior, too plain looking interior, subframe prone to rust, electrical wires prone to failure, already has blown one gasket, so who knows what's next, can never use a true dual exhaust system, aftermarket parts can be fairly expensive, paint codes hard to match up with actual paint Mustang- fairly reliable but components will be going out soon, AODE tranny is fairly reliable, but hurts hp, slow out of the box by modern standards, easy and cheap to mod, fuel pumps are prone to failure along with the EGR valve and IAC valve (don't know about the Camaro though), electrical systems hold out well but some things may go out due to age (battery driven components, mechanical components, etc.), looks great bout outside and in, OK on MPG, paint codes always match up with paint Both- will have nit bit parts that will wear down with time, but the Camaro, already having blown a head gasket, may be prone to faillure again, will get you from point A to B in style, are highly modable and respond very well to mods, will cost about the same on insurance and initial cost So in short, sense both are about even I'd go with the one that's just in all around better condition. If one has more problems than the other than get the one that has fewer problems. Be sure to check for break wear, tire wear, sqeeking noises when steering, stiffness in the steering wheel, tire rods are straight, no rush on the subframe (or at least minimal), no leaks coming from the cooling system, oil pan, tranny, and rear end, check over the quality of the paint on the car, too faded and the body itself becomes less resistant to the forces of nature, look over the interior, the way the interior looks is a good way to tell how well the car was taken care of, looks clean probably well maintained, have burn holes, stains, and tears and it may of been abused and not so well cared for, check for any singns of bad wires around the engine block on the wiring harness.

See, just a few more hundred gets you nearly 20 years newer. I'd say personally without seeing the Mustang, it does sound a little better. Less miles, no blown headgasket ... Just make sure you get ALL of the information on both cars. I would go with the 5.0, but that's because I've never liked Camaro's. If it was between a Trans Am and a GT I would say go Trans Am all day (latest gen, anyway). I think the Mustang looks better, and sounds better, but there is no doubt the LT1 is much more powerful. It's all in your personal preference man. Make sure you can handle the insurance payments on both, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed with either. 120k miles is a lot, and I personally wouldn't suggest buying a car with more than 75k miles on it, because stuff starts going out. Carfax both of the cars (If no one here will do it for you, someone at the Corral will). Good luck bro!

Decent quote on the insurance. Main thing is, it really doesn't matter rather or not the bags were deployed, that just lowers it's value, if it looks good now, then that's all that matters. I mean serriously, it doesn't take much to deploy the bags.

Bet ya they can. They sit right on the front end of the car in front of the radiator, there's only about a 1" gap, if that, between the air bag deploy sensors and the front bumper, hit the bumper hard enough in just the right place and poof, they'll go off.

ORIGINAL: Verado Airbags dont just deploy on a small fender bender. Yes they can. If something is hit just the right way, any amount of force can set them off. I've recently been spending a lot of time at work modifying the side airbag sensors on 2007 Buick Lucernes, because the way they came from the factory they were mounted incorrectly inside the doors, and would go off too easily.
