Ok so next week im on vacation from work, and not going anywhere, just not working, which is all that matters, but i went out and bought a Turtle Wax Ice Liquid Clay Bar and figured id spend a day cleaning and detailing my car. This is the first time ive used a clay bar at all, and especially the liquid one, so any suggestions and directions for use?

My cars black by the way, if that means any different usage directions.

Hope this gets some responses as I am interested in the use/results of clay bar.  Seems to me that it would be neccessary for oxidation removal but on our new cars wouldnt they be more likely to create minor scraches since there shouldnt be much oxidation on a car 1 or 2 years old unless in extreme conditions?

hey zr
dont use the liquid clay bar its a waste of money
there a a cpl that i use
1 is mother clay bar
the other is meguiers
both are great  they leave the paint as smooth as a babys butt
just make sure you wash your car real good then rinse it with lots of water
dont dry it though   leave the water on it and work in sections using the spray lub that comes with the clay bar
when your done wash it again and rinse that way theres no residue
go to auto-topia the have alot of info
i clay bar mine at least once a month then pollish and wax
my paint is smoother than some showroom cars
DONT LET THE CLAY BAR TOUCH THE GROUND

hope this helps

hey bill
the clay bar doesnt scratch as long as you dont let it touch the ground if it does its worthless
you have to through it away
it removes contamination in the paint from rain birds bugs
it really works

i use a clay bar every two weeks, because of the over spray from the paint shop were i work.  its does great, but i realy have to look at the paint when i do it because the clay will make it smooth but still might leave some over spray on the serface.  some one i work with said that the turtle wax liquid clay bar sucks so they got there money back, but i like the ice wax and polish. that stuff makes my black stang shine.

You cnat go wrong with mothers.

The liquid clay though you keep polishing in circles with it untill it gets rid of everything.

I use the Meguiars kit which works GREAT! Makes the surface of my stang as smoth as glass... Makes waxing easier also...just take your time and follow the directions and dont rush it
