So in the mean time while I'm selling my mazda6. The 98 cobra svt coupe I'll be getting needs new tires. I've been looking at tirerack and the best tire I see looks like Bridgestone Potenza RE750, the wheels are just going go with the new tires which are stock size 245/45-17. Are tirerack ratings accurate to go by? Anyone recommend any tires for me?

The survey ratings are accurate in the sense that they represent people's opinions of a particular tire.  They serve as a good guide when evaluating tires.

There are often test results conducted by us available for specific tire models as well.

The RE750 is very good.  The RE050A pole position would be even better in terms of traction and handling

Yeah I narrowed it down to those 2. The RE050A pole position is cheaper and has more dark green on the ratings. It looks to me that the RE050A pole postion would be the best bet for me right?

The largest we show is 315/35-17.  I don't know if the 335 would fit.

I don't know if I should get the stock tire size 245/45-17. Since this is my first time buying tires I'm not sure, I think I might just go RE050A pole positions with 245/45-17?

Would it be alright to go with 255/45-17 (Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position). Since it's a little wider which is what I want for more grip. Or 275/40-17, I'm such as noob at shopping for tires. All I would like is a little wider for more grip. Any help here please? I don't want to f**k up the wheel well and all or rub.

255/45-17 would be fine but the RE050A isn't made in that size.  They do make that tire in a 255/40 but you need at least an 8.5" wide wheel.

275/40 would also be fine in the rear on at least a 9" wide rear wheel.

Thanks man. I'll look into this. I'll see if I can get the 255/40
