went down to the local 1/8th

last night and, i know i cant drive the car to save my life yet, but i was disappointed. the track is by far NOT the best track in the world but my head wasn't on right last night. My best 60' was 2.36 cuz I was spinning till tomorrow (letting the clutch out too fast). What disappoints me, however, is that my best trap speed was 75.5mph on a 9.702 run. With the calculators online that translates to a 95mph 1/4th trap which is pretty sucky. DA last night was 1980ft or so but that wouldnt make up for 5mph. The only thing i could think of is that I'm throwing third almost exactly at the 1/8th mile and that might be killing my trap speeds. Anyone else trapping similarly in the 1/8th? or is my car just slow?

Your 60fts are hurting your 1/8th mile traps... You just need to work on launching and the times will come down...

practice is the name of the game I'm going to go back next Wednesday. Thanks, I was under the impression that traps were sort of independent of 60ft (you know, 1000hp supra syndrome) but i guess the relationship is stronger in the 1/8th

No... trap speeds are strange... sometimes you can have a 2.2 ~ 2.3 60ft and your traps are the same... sometimes ive seen 2.6~3.0 60fts and rediculously higher traps than normal...then other time 2.6 ~ 3.0 60fts result in lower traps.... it really depends on what happens during the spinning. When my old car would spin off the line (2.6 60ft) I would end up shifting into 2nd gear out of powerband and the car would bog really really bad... then I would end up losing a ton of time and mph because I was waiting for my RPMs to come up into powerband.
