Default Odometers

My odometer stopped working and has been repaired. Now the day after mine broke, my daughter's broke as well. I drive a 97 V8 and she drives a 97 V6. We both have mileage in the mid-80,000 range and the only thing we did was push the trip odometer button in our respective cars to start the count over after having some simple service done like an oil change.

I find this highly unusual for two cars to have the same problem within a couple of days of each other. I know these are computerized components so the repairs are not cheap ($311.00).

Does anybody know if this is a common problem with the SN95s?
