My old boss sold me his '06 GT Vert when he ordered his '07 Shelby GT500. A few weekends ago I went back to NY for the weekend to fix his computers and network. As a reward, he drove the Shelby to the office and took me for a drive. It was 11pm on deserted 2-lane roads on Long Island, and OH. MY. GOD! The car is FANTASTIC! Redlines in 1st gear every time, whether you try to or not.
So imagine my shock when he pulls over and says, "You wanna drive?" Well, DUH! He immediately follows up with, "If you f*** up my car, I'll kill you." And he's serious!
I've only had the GT since last October, and I only learned to drive stick a few months before that, so I'm sure I wasn't getting the full performance out of the beast, but still...it was the most amazing driving experience I've ever had, bar none. I had it up to 130 and it still felt rock-solid. (I know, I know -- that's reckless. I couldn't help it!)
Once we got back to the office, I immediately called my wife and told her. Her first response? "No! You can't buy one!" Grrrr...
Of course I had to drive home in my measly GT with *only* 300hp...what a difference! (I drove my parents' 120-hp Camry the next day to reset my tolerance, lol)
So yeah...I really really really want a GT500 now!

My buddy has a GT500, I have driven it once, (he lives back in San Diego) I drove it hard, (somebody needs to, he only has 200 miles on it and it is 6 months old) I have friends that have some money, I have driven everything from Ferrari 360, Gallardo, and a Bentley...Then I have to jump back in my Quad Cab Dodge...Oh yah, it normally feels like a pig, but after driving one of those, It is like I drive a Cement Truck..
I drove one, its no different than driving a stage 3, saleen s/c or even a nice s/c mustang GT. that being said buying a GT and adding mods is a better path for the money. but ya it was still bad ass, im saving for the next generation model cobra in 2010.

200 miles after 6 months!!!! The guy doesn't deserve it. Buying that car is like marriage. You do it because you wanna drive it hard and have it handy.

My God Id love to drive a GT500. My dad was thinking about getting one for awhile and I was pumped but once he found out how difficult they are to get he decided to build up a GT instead. Well sounds like we'll install a S/C on it soon so that should keep things headed in the right direction.
WOW the GT500 has a 5.4! my dad has the charger 5.7 and i can kick its ass, stock. like i said earlier the saleen s/c and stage 3 are as impressive as the gt500 only they handle better! and no **** its a gt500 you know that best because you overpaid about 10k on it.

The Saleen has a 4.6 3V and the GT500 has a 5.4 4V (the same motor in the GT, supercar), they are not even on the same planet when it comes to torque.
Oh, and I forgot to add the best part, it's a Shelby GT500!
GT500OC

A GT with a s/c is no comparison to a gt-500. You are forgeting it is a fully built motor capable of almost double the boost our GT's are capable of.
Oh yeah, and a 5.4 compared to our 4.6.
Some people didnt pay much over for their cars, ive heard of some still paying as low as $48,000. You cant compare the GT 500 to a saleen, you just cant.
You have to realize that the gt-500 is NOT just a beefed up mustang motor with a s/c on it. It is a completly different monster, and quite larger.
